A 2-day training programme on Basic Tools & Techniques for Cyber Crime Investigation was successfully conducted on 20th & 21st March 2026 at BPUT, Rourkela to enhance the professional skills of investigating officers. The programme featured expert sessions delivered by Cyber Expert Anshu Singh, focusing on emerging cybercrime trends, latest investigative techniques and scientific handling of digital evidence. Bisra Police arrests Block Account Manager for ₹46 lakh Government fund fraud. On the report of Superintendent CHC Bisra, Bisra Police arrested accused Siba Prasad Mallick (37) of Chhend, Rourkela for fraudulent misappropriation of Government funds during his tenure as Block Account Manager at CHC Bisra (2022-2025). The accused illegally transferred ₹46,08,341/- from Government accounts to private bank accounts and manipulated official computer records to conceal the fraud. Seizures include: 03 mobile phones, bank documents, debit/credit cards, cash ₹88,770/-, foreign currency, gold (33.426 g), silver (1.35 kg), one Maruti Wagon-R car, one TVS Jupiter scooter and one Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle. @odisha_police @DGPOdisha @digwrrkl

In a major breakthrough against cybercrime, Rourkela Police under the state-wide drive “Operation Cyber Kavach” arrested two persons involved in operating fraudulent mule bank accounts. The accused are Ganesh Tirkey (37) and Ashutosh Kujur (39). Acting on inputs from CID Crime Branch, a team from Jhirpani Police Station verified a suspicious Punjab National Bank account belonging to Ganesh Tirkey. Investigation revealed disputed transactions of nearly ₹1 crore. The account was also linked to more than 50 cyber fraud complaints from different parts of the country. During interrogation, Ganesh admitted that he had shared his bank account details with his friend Ashutosh in exchange for monthly payments. Ashutosh allegedly supplied these accounts to cyber fraudsters who used them for phishing, PhonePe fraud, part-time job scams and investment fraud. Police seized 3 Aadhaar cards, 3 mobile phones, 25 bank passbooks, 11 cheque books, 3 debit cards and 3 PAN cards. Investigation led by Inspector P.K. Rourkela Police continues its commitment towards community-centric and technology-driven policing. In a significant achievement, Rourkela Police today recovered and returned 106 stolen and lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹32 lakhs to their rightful owners. During a special distribution programme held at Police Headquarters, SP Shri Nitesh Wadhwani, IPS personally handed over the recovered devices, reiterating the department’s dedication towards safeguarding citizens’ property and building public trust. This success is a result of “Project SHIELD”, a technology-enabled initiative leveraging AI support and the Integrated Control Room to track habitual offenders and monitor city activities through a network of 220+ CCTV cameras. On reliable information regarding illegal transportation and selling of contraband ganja Raghunathpali Police day patrolling team conducted a raid and seized 1.5 kg of contraband ganja along with one mobile phone. One accused person was arrested and a case has been registered vide Raghunathpali PS Case No. 133 dated 04.03.2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) NDPS Act. 🏑 75th State Police Hockey Championship Successfully Concluded at Rourkela The 75th State Police Hockey Championship was successfully organized at Rourkela from 22nd to 24th February 2026, bringing together police teams from across Odisha and promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and team spirit. The final match, held on 24th February 2026, witnessed an exciting contest between 6th OSAP, Cuttack and Commissionerate (A) Team, in which Commissionerate (A) emerged as the Champions after a commendable performance. 🏑 75th State Police Hockey Championship – Inauguration The 75th State Police Hockey Championship was inaugurated today by Sri Brijesh Rai, IPS, DIG WR, Rourkela at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, Chhend, Rourkela. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sri Nitesh Wadhwani, IPS, SP, Rourkela–cum–Organizing Secretary, Rourkela along with other senior police officers and distinguished guests. A total of 15 teams, comprising around 320 players and 50 officials, are participating in the championship, which will be held from 22.02.2026 to 24.02.2026.
