And Ethan doesn't actually know, his dialogue doesn't mention anything and the Baker's scene is after the choice.

Its definitely a disconnect between the game itself and the story since the player lacks context of a Mia that isn't a bioterrorist liar or an infected psycopath. And in the Mia tape she says nothing besides "That wasn't me, lol"

@LarryKoopa17 @post_puccio @Circlebircle_ But RE8 is way more justified since there he has had a daughter and, from what Ethan knows, he has built a great life with Mia, and Chris just appears out of nowhere, kills Mia and steals the child.
But in RE7 we don't know how long they were married, much less that connection

It's only the best ending because Evelyn prefers to not crystalize Mia, even though she should be infected for longer and from what we know it doesn't kill the person, because 'family'

@post_puccio @Circlebircle_ Why? Mia is shown to be more noticeably infected than Zoe. The only real argument is that Zoe could still have enough time, unlike Mia.
But choosing her always relies on Ethan's relationship with her we never saw and should be slightly undone after 3 years and a sawed hand

@post_puccio @Circlebircle_ He doesn't know if Mia is better off than Zoe, infection-wise, so she could accidentally die with the serum.
The smartest play here would finally let Mia explain what's happening and go to the ship to search a 3rd cure and contact the DSO, BSAA, FBI, to develop a new one.

@ukazinh3 @Circlebircle_ And that is being charitable about the 3 year gap and the police, both in Louisiana and wherever Ethan and Mia are from, not finding out what happened, even slightly, since we know the Baker house has a police record as we can infer from the Lucas dialogue at the start

N Ethan didn't have enough time or dialogue to see if Zoe was infected enough or not. He literally only talked to her for less than 5 minutes and saw her for like, 3 minutes..

But the whole segment is stupid since the 3 could have just stayed together and justify the ship to find a 3rd cure instead of one of them.

And Zoe says that the serum would, and does kill, whoever is too "far gone", which Mia is 100% more than Zoe from the 1st section alone.
So Zoe is also Ethan's safest bet since Mia could die from the cure.

Up until that specific scene, neither Ethan nor the player knows that Mia is a terrorist. And It's not about being more or less infected, it's about being your wife bruh 😐
