What is the Seven Mountain Mandate? Is it biblical? Is it linked to Christian Nationalism? The Seven Mountain Mandate (7M/7MM) is a strategy for cultural engagement, popularized by Lance Wallnau and Bill Johnson in 2013. It is a dominionist theology that teaches Christians are called to take control of seven spheres of cultural influence in order to usher in God’s kingdom: Government Education Media Arts & Entertainment Religion Family Business Everyone wants their beliefs to be adopted onto the “Seven Mountains” of society but 7M takes it a bit further. Lance Wallnau and Bill Johnson are part of the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation), a pentecostal and charismatic movement that holds on to the belief of ongoing revelation, appointing “apostles” and “prophets” as spiritual authority. They hold experiences over scripture. Lance and Bill met for lunch in 1975 and claimed they received separate divine revelations. While originally envisioned as a framework for broad evangelism, the philosophy shifted towards dominion theology in the early 2000s, and another, more aggressive approach was popularized in 2013 with the release of their book “Invading Babylon: The 7 Mountain Mandate”. The goal of 7MM gain control over the 7 influences of society and “manifest” God’s kingdom on earth. Paula White is part of the NAR and believes in the 7MM, along with many others who currently hold political office. 7MM believers use Revelation 17:8-10 to justify their belief, it is a twisting of scripture. However you understand the beast, prostitute, kings, and mountains in this passage, the conquering warrior is always the crucified Christ, not a sword-swinging church. Christ’s kingdom does not grow by “winning” cultural influence, it grows by internal transformation by the Holy Spirit. Our engagement with culture is through sharing the gospel, not by seizing power. The Bible calls us to live as ambassadors for Christ, not as cultural conquerors. 7MM can lead to theological compromise, political idolatry, and a redefinition of biblical mission. Historically, the church has thrived during some of its darkest times of cultural power, and we even see this today in China and Iran. As Christians, we are not to be chasing power or to be “winners”. We can absolutely share our beliefs with others, however, to seize power is another thing. We must always show humility, grace, dignity, and love, even when we “lose” a cultural battle, even when we are persecuted. The inability to let go shows misplaced faith. Remember what Jesus said to Pilate in John 18:36: "My kingdom is not of this world," said Jesus. "If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I wouldn't be handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here." We need to be aware of how we interact with others, including unbelievers: 2 Timothy 2:22-26 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. But reject foolish and ignorant disputes, because you know that they breed quarrels. The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient, instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. And the truth is.. 2 Timothy 3:12 In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. This is just a general overview of the Seven Mountain Mandate. @squixiee I’m probably going to spend way too much time tomorrow going down this rabbit hole lol, what different resources do you use when looking into the Greek? I usually use Bible Hub or go through threads on Biblical Hermeneutics Stack Exchange

Why js χαίρειν used here? Is it to rejoice too or was this word normally used as a greeting/farewell as well? I think I’m just thinking too much about it 😅

@TheAnnoyingPoet I use KJV, CSB, and the interlinear Hebrew & Greek Bible for my main studies. Have ESV, NIV, NLT, and CJB but I honestly don't really use those, maybe only like once or twice a year will I really bring them out to just see what other translations use for certain words

@squixiee Maybe it’s a joyful greeting? Because in Matthew 5:12 it makes sense as a simple “Rejoice”, but one could argue Jesus is trying to say that you should greet persecution and trials joyfully because of the reward that is waiting for us in heaven

Logging in for an update; Milo is now officially out of his heart failure medication, so I’m not sure how things will progress. We can’t afford to get it refilled, since it’s $100 and we were already behind on our own bills by $2000 this month, so getting his dental work is out of the question. I’ll be keeping an eye on him, if his snout stays swollen for at least a week straight and if his pain doesn’t get any better and he’s suffering every day then.. yeah.. but anyways, here’s cute pics of Milo in my lap yesterday, he wanted more blankies and more snuggles, and he even gave me lots of kisses yesterday too (he’s not a blankie and kisses kind of dog, so I’ll cherish these moments forever)

A new update concerning my mom, the mass is as big or bigger than the size of her lung and is wrapped around the front of her heart and left lung. Monday is when they will do a biopsy surgery to remove a piece of it so they can determine what type it is.
