The better AI writing gets, the less we'll want to read it. Life of Pi author Yann Martel explains why: 1) AI Inflation "Once you know it's AI, then suddenly it's like special effects in movies. I find my kids when they watch movies with special effects, they'll just shrug because we know a computer can generate anything. So a sort of inflation sets in where we're less impressed. Then you have a great actor who's just acting with no special effects and it's like, wow, that works. What really has an impact is the actor emoting the authenticity of that." 2) AI Aversion "I think publishers are going to start saying, 'hey, it cannot be beyond spell check and maybe minimal AI, but you cannot use AI.' I think readers will agree with that, and that the ones who cheat on that will be seen as cheaters. They're not going to get published, but even if they do, they won't be read. They're not going to win prizes, they're not going to win good reviews. It'll be pointed out that this is not the way to do it."

Asking direct questions can shut people down. A simple observation can get them to reveal more, and if you do ask, use how and what questions to keep it non accusatory.

I personally don’t like their coffee. With that said. He shouldn’t have to defend a $90 cup of coffee let alone a $9 cup. If someone is willing to pay that, then they should be allowed serve that customer at whatever rate. If people don’t want to pay $9 for a coffee, then they can find a cheaper alternative.

Include me in this same head space. Unless humans are removed from the equation entirely, I’m having a hard time grasping how humans, who not only like predictability, but they cognitively rely on it for sound decision making, will be able to be productive without some level of interface consistency.

Task assistance and automation from agents aside, I'm seeing this very loose idea increasingly thrown around, but I'm struggling to think of a single use case where I'd want this or even what might even be produced based on apps I currently frequent. @grok what am I missing?

McKinsey presentation design lead says every consultant using ChatGPT or Claude to make decks. Already seeing “fingerprints” of AI-created decks. Says “problem was never really design to begin with”. The real skill is “narrative” and AI decks won’t close that gap for long time.

yes we over-hired during covid because i incorrectly built 2 separate company structures (square & cash app) rather than 1, which we corrected mid 2024. but this misses all the complexity we took on through lending, banking, and BNPL. and that we’re now targeting $2M+ gross profit per person, 4x our pre-covid efficiency, which stayed flat at ~$500k from 2019 until 2024. we have and do run an efficient company... better than most.
