@montypro 1959, 7 yrs old, summer, suburbs of Mpls. Out the door at 8:30, back at 12, pb&j, out the door til 5. 10 cents for candy at the shop. Completely free on our bikes to roam. Garden hose for water, marbles and mumblety-peg with our jack knives, climbing trees. Proustian in a sense.

@srjense Castle Stuart is a tough one for me. Stunning setting and scenery. A few good holes but it’s more destination golf. Super wide fwys, but not a ton of strategy involved. Feels much like Bandon golf than Scottish links golf.

Many years before I started making my own Persimmon woods, I restored classic MacGregors. Here are a few I've done somewhat recently.. The MacGregors from the 40s-60s are the greatest persimmons ever made. Toney Penna, the designer, is IMHO the greatest persimmon designer of all time. @laz_versalles I thought Gleneagles was the pits. An inland Nicklaus course with cart paths- not only the worst course at the resort but possibly the worst high price, touted course in the country. And a disaster for the US. Didn't think I could dislike Phil more before the event-proved wrong.

@laz_versalles @Twins What a family! And what a roster on that team. We got to listen to the World Series games over the PA system in jr. high.

My mom's sister marries Sandy Valdespino. Sandy, my uncle Zoilo, Tony Oliva, Camilo Pascual and Julio Bequer make up a core of Cuban players on the Twins. All of them end up being like "uncles" in my life. The @twins helped get their families out of Cuba.
