@SNYtv Adjust #1: don’t walk #9 hitter to load bases Adj 2: don’t groove 1st pitch fastballs to ensuing heart of order hitters; compounds earlier mistakes Adj 3: tenacity & resourcefulness to escape jams Adj 4: no crooked run early innings Adj 5: get ahead early in count w bases empty

Carlos Mendoza was asked if there is reason to be concerned with David Peterson: "No. If he's healthy, which he is, there's no concern. He's too good of a pitcher. He's been our guy. We've just got to make a couple of adjustments there and go from there."

Robert is learning a new CF and new teammates, I’d say he’s due a transition period. As for Peterson, I’m more inclined to see how the new pitching coach works with him for a few more outings before taking him out of the rotation.

@RTaub_ This sounds like a load of bull all the way around. Bad player performance & coaching is the truth. Roy was a great goalie, but a bad coach to date b/c unable to craft schemes suited to an older, low skill roster. His players also wilt under pressure, unlike Roy as a goalie

A couple thoughts on this clip (more so the first minute-plus) that was brought to my attention: 1. If this is true — this would be a really tough look on the locker room more than Roy. 2. If it was one or two players, current or former, it’s incredibly soft. 3. The Islanders organization have had and still continue to have former Cup winners around the team a good amount of the time. 4. Why the hell as a current/former player would you not want to get the mindset of someone who’s a multiple Stanley Cup winner and Hall of Famer? That seems totally ridiculous. 5. Roy not bending on how he wants players to play his way or is hard on them I can absolutely see being accurate. #Isles

@HoffWFAN We need DP in the BP , this is perfect. Myers or Manaea gets the next turn.

How much longer do we need to watch David Peterson implode in the first few innings of a game to realize his not a starter?

The Mets will not move to a six-man rotation this week, as they had previously indicated they might. Carlos Mendoza said he's happy with where his top five starters are at, so Sean Manaea will remain in the bullpen for now.

@WardyNYM He’s getting too passive. Needs to rip away at fastballs in the zone, especially ahead in the count

Can we take a moment to appreciate how damn good Luis Robert’s ABs continue to be He’s already shown more plate discipline than any of the last 3 years in Chicago (I’m exaggerating, but you get the point) To see him grind these out the way he is… gotta be happy with that

@ChrisBottaNHL @Spazemunky @IslesFix The real issue with Palat was playing him so many minutes with top lines over Duke since the trade. Not sure if Roy, Darche or both are to blame for that, but it was really costly. Tsyp was relegated to the press box, which didn’t set us back

Yeah, Darche has made mistakes. I was critical of some when announced, and a few were not minor miscalculations. Think Darche doesn’t realize this now? He’s also done good work behind the scenes for the #Isles. I’m told by countless people who’d know that the players and front office staff greatly respect him. Importantly, he elevated the development pathway after the Lamacalamity in Bridgeport. The problem for the Darche Sucks Brigade is that we know Malkin and Ledecky are giving the GM all the resources needed for cleanups on Aisle Mathieu and to build a contender. For one example, Darche will use a buyout if needed. For another, big money was just dropped on an upgrade to a more experienced, accomplished and, yes, analytical head coach. These are not the Walsh-Millstein-Imprisoned Owners-Wang Islanders. They operate like the best NHL franchises do. So have at it, members of the DSB. Obsessively point out Darche’s rookie year fumbles. But you’re gonna have to break out new graphs and material eleven months from now when Pete DeBoer’s New York Islanders are at least 18 games over NHL .500 and comfortably in a playoff spot.

@michaelgbaron Sloppy game. Pitching was excellent except for 5th inning disaster. Offense largely asleep except for the bench players, Lindor 2B and two of Baty’s ABs

#Mets had to grind one out and come from behind late today. Jared Young’s sac fly was huge in the 8th, the bullpen was great again. Tough conditions but love how they found a way today.

@MetsGiveMeAgita Young should be in the lineup everyday vs RHP whilst Soto hurt. Give Semien, Polanco, Benge, Baty occasional day off while Young is hot

Truth be told, only the wind kept Young's ball from going out. Damn shame. Citi Field in April sucks balls.

Brazobán gives up a bases-loaded hit that ties up the game 2-2 after the ABS challenge overturned what could have ended the threat. Then gives up a RBI bloop double and DBacks now up 3-2. Peralta didn’t do himself any favors after getting the first two outs. Sloppy.
