Spurs fans suddenly realising that being 17th can feel very different depending on the circumstances. Nuance more important than the headline.

3mins away for 30 mins. How the set up for @Uber is allowed to exist at @SydneyAirport the way it is is a disgrace. On top of that the way @Uber is allowed to get away with knowingly and misleadingly under estimate wait times should be prosecuted.

@JacoCats They finished 17th last season but were pretty much in the same position same time last year having scored 4 more goals and conceded only one more. Starts haven't been the problem, it's been maintaining performing over a full season.

ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL BREAK: A PERFECT MOMENT TO HAVE AN HONEST TALK ABOUT THIS SEASON SO FAR. We all know social media is an echo chamber, I don't think the negativity around Frank it's justified. -He's working with a team without their 4 best scorers of last season (Son left, Solanke, Maddison and Kulusevski) -No creativity in the team, the only number 10 we have is Xavi, but he still need time to get into rythm. -Lack of options on the left: our LHS has been a huge proble, that's because Spence on that side can't progress the ball, when Udogie plays we can see the difference -This was a team that finished 17th last season, let's not forget it Even in this conditions Frank has been able to: -Use wonderfully the new signing, Palhinha and Kudus have been out of this world, this tells you how good he is in terms of finding the right players for his systems. -Find a very good structure defensively, just 10 goals conceded in 11 games, despite missing Romero for a period of time -Found a way to score a lot, even without our best players available, even without playing champagne football, 19 goals scored, 4th best attack in the League. -Adapt to the opposition, not being stubborn on one way to play, like the previous managers we had. He found a formula to be consistent in terms of result even when the quality is not at the highest level. This is huge to build confidence through a long season, waititng for the likes of Maddison, Kulu and Solanke to come back. I'm very positive this is just the tip of the iceberg, as we will get better with players coming back and hopefully a very good January Transfer Window. We're 5th in the League, unbeaten in the UCL. Maybe it's me, but I'm absolutely SATISFIED about our start of the season.

When Frank came in, I was hopeful he’d bridge the gap between our defensive and attacking extremes in recent years, but at the moment, our attack is nonexistent, and it’s disappointing. I see a lot of fans saying, “if we’re going to lose, at least have a go”, which I do agree with, but only a few months ago most wanted us to be more pragmatic. Ange Postecoglou previously said: “At some point I’ll get replaced by John the Pragmatist and you can all be happy and revel in it.” We can’t rewrite history or pine for Ange again. I loved him, but Frank’s our manager now, no point in comparing the two. All we can hope is he finds that balance soon in this tough run, because once the fans turn, we all know how it ends.

"Maybe you all, when I'm long gone, you will pine for my entertainment and have had your fill of pragmatism. We haven't achieved anything yet. We haven't done all those things that you want to do. So if I start being pragmatic now, then maybe we'll never get there."
Sacha Pisani@Sachk0

Not even 24 hours later & those questions about Postecoglou’s style/being “pragmatic” are back 😴 His face, even before reporter finished question, said it all. “Maybe when I'm long gone you'll all pine for my entertainment & you'll have had your fill of pragmatism”

@simonyemane I appreciate you've always maintained nuance. Ange had his flaws for sure but to say flat out his style = goals conceded is just not true. Also sad when people don't realise that football is a game of trade offs. It hurts to win on xG & lose the game, maybe more to lose on both.

I don’t think Spurs fans are that complicated. We just don’t want to go from one extreme to the other and then back again. Balance between fun attacking football, being solid defensively, and a trophy now and then. Forward, not round in circles. Why is this so hard 😭

Wow. What a brave and important post.
Stan Collymore@StanCollymore

Suicide. I'm choosing to be deliberately blunt and provocative in this post because it's necessary. Government, charities, football clubs are all pushing water up a hill in highlighting what is undoubtedly a major health crisis. You take a rope. You put it up in a garage or a tree nearby or far away. You're thinking about every loved one you'll leave behind as you put that rope around your neck. Then you drop. Some are decapitated. Some aren't. All are found by someone who has a lifetime of trauma that will never leave them. A son. A daughter. A brother. A sister. A mother. A father. I know 2 men who hung themselves. One was found by his Mom. One was found by his brother. Neither have recovered fully. 20 and 30 years on. A life sentence for people who were already worrying, terrified their loved one may do something. So just visualise the above and ask, "is there another way"? A segway for a moment. I do a few Q&A's every year. Tales of yesterday with a 99% male audience of my age group. After the stories and fun, my last question back to the audience is.. "Hands up if you struggle with a mental health issue". Nobody ever puts a hand up. Despite 1 in every 3 of 500 attendees statistically struggling. "Ah, nobody, that's fucking brilliant! Well I do! ". I then graphically tell people, stunned into silence about how a rope around my neck in the middle of nowhere jolted me to go home and cry like a baby to my Mom. After the Q&A has finished, something always happens. I'll be chatting to a few guys, saying bye and one by one, men will come over and whisper " I struggle". Or my mailbox the next day will have 30 emails from guys, their partners or kids saying " Dad/Uncle /Brother was there last night and what you said hit them hard". And that's how some people realise that it's time to speak to a pal or family member or even rant to me in an email. It works, I often get a follow up email a year or 6 later saying that they took responsibility for their suicidal feelings and are now flying. Humans are programmed to want to live, to have families and to keep the species growing and thriving. So for a human to want to short circuit that desire isn't normal, and it should never be spoken of as normal. It's the ultimate red flag. If you suspect your mate, Dad, Brother, Uncle is struggling mentally, they deserve your intervention. They deserve a " are you OK, please tell me what's up". They deserve an opportunity to get past wanting to hang a rope over a tree or in a garage and slowly struggle until they die and you find them. If you've been there and trust me I have plenty, then you'll know that text out of the blue, or a footie mate or one of your kids asking jow you are can open the curtains to some sunshine. Because when suicide is your only answer, the room is already dark, and you can't see a way out. So please, fucking pretty please, ask that husband, Dad, Uncle, Cousin, footie pal TODAY how they are. You may be shocked what comes back but extremely glad that you asked. For those who struggle, you're not alone.

Wonder if Ange would be interested in standout A-league talent Nestory Irankunda (ignore the title he's on a free, I think) youtube.com/watch?v=qSzQnf…

@Kuta15 I swear I watched a game the other day where a player tried to run around the goal and popped up the other side on a corner or something and the ref said he couldn't because it was 'leaving/entering the pitch' without permission. 🤷‍♂️

Former Socceroo James Holland is an assistant coach at Crystal Palace. When they beat Liverpool this weekend with a long throw I thought of what Holland told me 5 years ago when he became a long throw specialist under Oliver Glasner at LASK.

@VinceRugari @BakesTristan @Flav_Bateman @LoveTheShirt I really invested hard in Spurs thinking it would be a long term fairy tale, I tried to see if the love was still there post Ange but the spark has gone. Been death riding Nuno, Amorim and Emery hoping Ange would find a new home so I can go all in again.

This pic is pretty crazy. Probably unfairly it’s already become a bit symbolic of the limitations of ‘tactics’ in football. “If I can just find the right formation, the right system to solve today’s puzzle…” Beauty of the game is that it’s so much more complex than that

I've NEVER seen a manager having an impact tactically on us like Frank. It's insane to think that this is more or less the same team of last season, yet we look 100 times better. He's a genius, absolutely incredible at reading and preparing the games. I love Thomas Frank.
