A Russian indie developer says they may not be able to release their psychological horror game, The Lost File, in Russia because of how the country’s laws are being interpreted. According to the developer, a government lawyer told them the game could not be released because of its horror themes, violence, gameplay, and overall atmosphere. The developer says they offered to remove blood and other graphic content for a Russian version but were reportedly told it still would not be allowed because it is a horror game. The developer also says they faced similar issues while studying at university and had to present the project as a “detective game” instead of a horror game.
