Quote tweeting and pinning so I can join in signing. Although I'm a retired PT, I still work full-time in healthcare, have a disability and am also now on immunosuppressive drugs, so I have more than a little "skin in this game", so to speak.

I'm taking a needed break but I am working on an open letter for health care professionals to sign, requesting the Ontario Human Rights Chief Commissioner, conduct an immediate inquiry per Section 31, OHRC RSO 1990 CH19. The premise is the following:

Missed this, good read. Economists get it, don't work in 4yr election cycles. Who said "it's the economy silly"? "The policy of dropping COVID mandates meant to improve the economy may actually be working to extend the economic costs of the virus, they said." 1/4

@BrooksFallis RATs are hard to come by in NS. Also.. didn't the Feds say they had put a halt on the purchase of more RATs? Now, I have a RAT kit that doesn't expire until 2024 so maybe the Feds feel they have stock piled enough to get us through to when we have a proper vaccine. Dunno.

The “all virus approach” in Ontario is trying to convince people that SARS-CoV2 is just like any common cold virus now. Except it’s not. In particular long-COVID, 🧠 & ❤️ damage which are not captured in hospitalization & death stats.

#IStandWithDrStamatopoulos She is the best and has a heart of gold to continue to fight for ltc homes. And what Brian Lilley does is to try to minimize as to deflect from the true issue of the government sending grannies away.

@ccleighton Most people have not been wearing masks for the past few months. There have been concerts, sports events, large gatherings etc and I don’t see a huge spike. How is making a mask mandate again going to do anything?

@CaressantL has co-located RH and LTC home(s) where all residents and visitors have to enter through the LTC entrance. RH residents/visitors must walk past indoor dining areas in LTC to enter. Why not staff the RH entrance with a screener?#profitsoverpeople
Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes Ltd.@CaressantL

@jenndavi_ We take dir from PHU / implement best practices to keep covid out- one point of entry so people don’t sneak in other entrances who are not screened, and as for walking by/thorough an area – residents wouldn’t be allowed to walk from LTC to the RH side indoors unless screened neg.

Welcome to Doug Ford’s Ontario … Where it’s ok to use the threat of a big hospital bill to get consent from patients and their families It is unfair, unjust and unethical. @fordnation you need to tell families this won’t happen here #WithdrawBill7

Such an important point. With limited data (and becoming moreso) how can we reasonably assess our own risk? As an immunocompromised person, this information is vital so I can lead a normal fully integrated life.
David Fisman@DFisman

If the provincial pivot has been for people to start assessing their own risk, the province needs to provide tools that make that possible. Public sharing of data should continue, whether it comes from @PublicHealthON, @COVIDSciOntario or via file sharing on ministry websites

Think, Ontario. We have seen it already with Covid outcomes in LTC, where outcomes were/are worse for residents in for-profit LTC than in public LTC. Yet, somehow for-profit LTC still paid massive dividends to their shareholders. 🤢

Just over a year ago, I read a paper which showed that when private equity buys nursing homes, death rates go up 10%. I was a med student at Stanford, but I halted my studies to investigate. Today, that investigation was published in @NewYorker newyorker.com/news/dispatch/…

The same people that created the situation we are in are complaining about the solution. By saying they don't support this bill, the Liberals are saying that they're okay with the status quo: closing emergency departments, longer wait times, and less beds in our hospitals.
Richard Southern@RichardCityNews

“We’re calling on Doug Ford to withdraw bill 7 and take a more thoughtful and caring approach to make sure seniors get the care they need” says the Liberals John Fraser.

2.5 years in and it got me. 2.5 years of masking, N95s everywhere inside that’s not home, often fit tested, always snug, often reworn. And after all that it got me: I have the slightest blip of acne on my face.
