@PHSAdvPhysio Dual task training is an important element to move from the associative to autonomous phase of skill acquisition...
...but it's just that: a progression
Introducing dual task training too early is just as bad as standing on a wobble board before a client has a step response
English

Ankle rehab potentially but bare foot for proprioceptive benefits.
Static balance not convinced !
As to build confidence = reduce anxiety = improve hip-ankle-step response you need individual to feel safe, reassured of control in standing situations & this type of training does little to do so.
Static into dynamic balance training can be achieved & practiced with functional relevance to tasks causing or increasing risk of falls.
Thoughts on dual task training ?
English

Exercises like this are great if you want to rehab and ankle injury or improve your static balance on a dynamic surface...
...but does little to develop an integrated ankle-hip-step response
Great for surfing/skating. Terrible for reducing the risk of falls

Would this improve your balance ??? Is it functionally relevant or specific ? Is it beneficial to reducing falls ??? Will it waste your money & time?? Can you guess which one is a yes..... @PhysioNetwork @stable_program @age_uk @DementiaUK @thecsp @LeicsCares @ashtoncarehome @GdnSocialCare @EvoolvePainCare
