After six years at The Star, today is my last day. It's been a genuine pleasure writing about my club for a newspaper I grew up reading... A huge thank you to @HoltChris for believing in me and bringing me in, and to @dannyhall04 for being such a great friend and colleague.

A Wembley promotion, an incredible play-off comeback, two relegations, many magical highs, plenty of lows, a few Simpsons jumpers… and half a Sheffield Wednesday takeover. Cheers, The Star. It’s been real. 💙🗞️

@ElstonGunn87 @AlanBiggs1 The EFL should have picked up that he didn’t have any money. All the money spent by him was borrowed and is still owed, it’s the reason for 10 years he hasn’t spent a penny and the reason he was desperate to get £120m when selling.

@AlanBiggs1 Nonsense. The clubs make the rules not the EFL.The EFL administers the clubs rules - including Sheff Wed who voted for the rules now being applied against them.Chansiri spent circa £150-200 mill on SWFC so the argument he wasn't fit and proper when given the club is claptrap

The EFL’s Insolvency Policy guidance, posted by @SWFCTrust tonight, contrasts with the loose, ominous & alarming language used by their COO earlier. Whereas guidance cites “right to review”, “absolute discretion” & consideration “on its merits.”
Alan Biggs@AlanBiggs1

Can accept the EFL feeling obliged to stick the -15 on #SWFC next season - even if discretionary. But to add severe signing & wage squeezes seems unfairly destructive, as @SWFCTrust says. Surely EFL has a duty to help a stricken club recover under new owners.

@CarltonPalmer Spot on CP, too many want to grapple instead of attacking the ball. Some of the defending is woeful. Same with the long throw, get your best header free and let him go and attack the ball.

Set pieces have always being an important part of the game .The game hasn’t changed the current players aren’t taught the art of defending hence all the holding and grappling .FA cup final 92 Arsenal .Andy Linegan header set piece decided the game .

@__Jordz As low as it gets is when you need 3 points to stay up and your rivals beat you, not when your brain dead on a life support machine and you turn the switch off. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As a former Wednesday fan and now Blade supporter (for now) today could be the worst in the club history. Don’t get this talk about not bothered and already relegated nonsense. Getting relegated at your rivals is as low as it gets, regardless of situation.

@ReviewNonLeague Thing is with his tactics are that when you have a far superior team in the lower leagues you can play wingers who can’t defend as full backs as you don’t do much defending but playing teams on a similar level similar budget they are getting found out.

@robstaton Cynic in me says the EFL are bottling making a decision and wanting to leave it to the Regulator to make. Hope this doesn’t drag out till May. Don’t trust the EFL at all.

Statement from the IFR (Football Regulator) relating to Sheffield Wednesday #SWFC: “We are engaging with representatives of the preferred bidder and the administrators, seeking further clarity in relation to their intention to purchase Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. “The preferred bidders would need to satisfy the EFL test which is currently live. However, if the transaction does not complete by May the bidders will need to satisfy the IFR’s test. “The last thing Sheffield Wednesday fans want is a long, drawn-out process which further destabilises the Club. “We don’t want to be having to engage with the bidders for the first time when our powers to assess new owners and directors come online later this year. “We are unable to comment further at this stage.” Understand the IFR's position is to seek clarity from and keep an open dialogue with the parties involved because they don't want to unnecessarily delay transactions which are already in train, potentially causing further distress to clubs and fans. While the IFR can ask questions and seek clarity, it doesn't have the power to approve or prevent the acquisition now. The IFR also remains in contact with Begbies Traynor and EFL regarding the SWFC administration process.

@TWFootball1867 The issue is changing shape doesn’t improve players ability, I wouldn’t recommend any of that squad to a championship club at the moment.

I can't believe that Wednesday wouldn't have a youth striker that can be as effective as Yates. This isn't to criticise Yates. But he isn't the striker to score goals by himself. He's an in the box striker, meaning, you have to work it to him. And we are not doing that. We need a striker to get it to the box. 265 mins for the Owls, he's had 1 shot, off target. Made 23 passes. Fwiw, I agree with the loan signings, at this stage, of Ndala, as it is key to developing our own players to get some attacking scenarios. But I don't get that type of signing. A youth player with pace to threaten in behind would at least produce the same output, which is 1 shot in 3 games and 14 accurate passes. Following on from my post yesterday, what I would play is, a rigid back 4, a combative midfield and pace across the front 3, Cooper Palmer Gabe Cooper McGhee Jarvis Nakamba Ndala Heskey Adamarola McNeill That feels like a side that has some energy about it and can threaten. I would be throwing Favour Onukwuli, Will Grainger, Akpobi in the mix to keep energy high. On Will Grainger, if he plays in the 10, he's demanding and getting on the ball. I can't fathom why he hasn't got a single minute since coming in against Brentford and getting us on the ball.

@TWFootball1867 And yet everyone was complaining that we play a back 5. It’s a no win situation, literally, changing shape doesn’t improve players. Simple as that.

The Wednesday defence is struggling to adapt to playing in a four, having played in a five all season. We're not tracking our runners. Swansea's goal was from a catalogue of players not following their runners in wide areas. But there is also little challenge in the middle as Heskey and Jarvis are getting overrun with the rotation.

@Jamesreaney92 @Jamesy_boy That’s twice you’ve said that pal. Sam was released because he was 22 and rightly so, no qualms from me or anyone in the family, he came into professional football too late really but will be back in the league soon. 👍🏻

I’ve not seen the post and don’t wish to, but I have noticed the abuse of the management and players is getting worse, we have got young lads not ready for this level and experienced players who couldn’t get into the first team 2 seasons ago. Only one man to blame 😡
Sheffield Wednesday@swfc

Sheffield Wednesday are aware of abhorrent racist posts on social media this evening directed towards one of our players. The club condemn absolutely any form of racism and will work hand in hand with the relevant authorities to bring the perpetrator to justice. We stand together.
