Dear Chessie fans. Yep, we hate it too. We’ve been on the receiving end all season long, waiting for it to be outlawed. Refs allow it, coaches seem to think it helps so we can either go on a pointless moral crusade or follow the crowd. Never happens at your place?

@staffsref @giltbrookpie But thats simply punishing a team which is not fair if the keeper has a genuine injury.
Surely it should be like rugby, a blood substitute (2nd keeper) comes on for minium 10 mins while no.1 gets sorted.

@smacula I saw on FB that old friend died 25 years ago today. A picture of him exactly as I recall him. He was a live hard, die young kind of fella. A motorbike accident claimed him. Shows that we all must live for the day and enjoy what we have.

@Lea_EFC This is just a culmination of an over tolerance for grappling at set pieces and there is multiple fouls taking place almost simultaneously. It needs addressing before next season.

@EfcEnthusiast As a referee, I can totally get the on field ref not seeing it. From the assistants angle an accident looks plausible. But from the side angles the VAR had, it doesn't look an accident at all and a clear penalty.

@Jdennis1995 @SalfordMe2023 My son first played football at 6. Manager was way too competitive for that age, in my opinion, and kids regularly ended up in tears. He switched to rugby at 14. Sure they wanted to win, but it was all about learning the game and equal time on the pitch. No angry parents either.

@SalfordMe2023 Teaching your kid that if they want to win and succeed they need to work hard for it, and not be disappointed if it doesn’t happen but to be resilient and keep pushing is absolutely the right thing

Parents, don't do this to your five year old.
At that age, football coaches are creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment not a competitive one.
Natural competition exists, parents who amplify it are just as likely to turn their kids away from the game.
This is why we have course requirements before people are allowed to coach kids. (BT Playmaker, Introduction to Coaching Football (formerly level 1) and a DBS)

My 5 year old boy does football training. At the end of the session they do a ‘man of the match’ type thing. My boy is always desperate to win it. He often doesn’t. I explained to him the other day that he didn’t win simply because he wasn’t good enough. That he deffo could win, but he just needs to be better, try harder, be more focused etc. One of the other mums heard me & was aghast at what I said. She told me she is going to get ‘runner-up stickers’ for all the kids who don’t make it. I said no thanks, not for my son. Kids need to learn that they can be the best, but they must apply themselves & dust themselves off when it doesn’t go their way. No consolation prizes, no ‘everyone’s a winner’ etc. There are winners & losers. Wanna win - do your best. Can’t make it? Don’t worry, go & smash something else. Play to your strengths & never, ever play the victim. Do research, check Tripadvisor, plan, get a hotel where beds are either allocated or always available, if you don’t have kids, avoid school holidays if you can👌👏☀️

A German dad has won £850 compensation after suing his tour operator for losing the daily 6am sunlounger towel war on holiday in Kos, Greece. He dragged his wife and kids out of bed at dawn every single day, only to spend 20 minutes hunting for a spot while other guests illegally reserved the best loungers with towels long before sunrise. Some mornings his children were left sitting on the floor. Hotel staff and the tour rep did nothing despite the clear no-reservation rule. Hanover District Court ruled the entire package holiday “defective” and ordered the payout. Only a German could turn the ultimate sunbed scramble into a successful courtroom victory.

@StevenHilleard @TonyIncenzo I actually think, all told, it was the correct decision. It was a mess of football's own making and needs addressing. I get Hammers fans being annoyed with grappling going on everywhere, but the keeper was heavily impeded.

@staffsref @TonyIncenzo It’s a mess isn’t it? it was supposed to be for clear and obvious errors, not 20 views at every angle, but that ship sailed many moons ago unfortunately as soon as the ref goes to the video it’s 99% going to be overturned
However I’m a very happy Gunner, so there is that 😉

@archer_rs So let’s say Restaurants pay their staff appropriately. The prices at the restaurant go up to cover the new pay rate of staff. So now your bill to eat out costs $122.13 but the line item for tips is gone. Is that better? Or ?

@bigphil321 Realistically, it has to be dealt with by consistently stopping corners & free kicks from being delivered until it stops. If it doesn't, award defensive free kicks & penalties for the most impactful offence. Teams will adjust when this happens.

All that will happen, is they’ll stay on the 6 yard line still grappling, & teams will take short corners to buy 2 seconds, to allow the attackers to flood the box and goalie..

@jamiebennett_r @BillPayer418997 @pmak27 All teams will have got away with it because everyone does it. It's becoming impossible to referee with cameras present. Penalise one foul and VAR will find three or four others. As happened yesterday.

@ashleymcduff2 My company has 4 tickets for games at Arsenal, Spurs & West Ham games. The first two are in hospitality. The West Ham ones are in the home end. This is why we always struggle to offload them 😳😅
