Something many of these data boys are unaware of: The Nigerian Constitution, specifically Section 35(4), guarantees the right to personal liberty and states that a person who is arrested or detained must be brought before a court of law within a "reasonable time". This reasonable time is defined as 24 hours if there's a court of competent jurisdiction within a 40-kilometer radius, and 48 hours in other cases. In other words, the law enforcement agency has 24-48 hours to charge the suspect or release them on bail. If the investigation isn't completed within this timeframe, the suspect may be granted administrative bail. Malami has been held since last week Monday 8th December, that’s more than 168hrs. It's worth noting that detention beyond 48 hours without a court order is considered unlawful and may lead to compensation and public apology to the affected individual. ~ Jabeer
