@Eric_Erins It also arrives cold. However, the 2-4-1 offers take the edge off. Can freeze one portion for use later. Buy two lots of 2-4-1 (different items) with fixed delivery and it’s better quality/value than bulk ordering pre-prepared supermarket meals.

I don’t understand how people get hooked on delivery apps. Everytime I think about ordering food delivery I get to the checkout and I’m like. Wait why am I doing this why am I spending $25 on a meal that’s not even worth $15

@mlevyholden That's the question, is "hanging out" online equivalent to hanging out in person or are they losing something?

Teen hangouts dropped off a cliff after 2012. Those teens are now adults in their late 20s and 30s wondering why they have no close friends. We keep treating the loneliness epidemic like it came out of nowhere. It didn't. We just weren't paying attention when it started. Chart via @jean_twenge data, h/t @jayvanbavel

@StutteringTx Alternatively, use approach-avoidance as the basis for stuttering therapy. This has a theoretical and empirical basis. Using avoidance therapy alone has neither.

@KfcTokyo @Eric_Erins Cart shortage happening for me too. Sometimes only the huge cart is available. However, the huge cart won’t make me buy any more because I am on foot and can manage at most two large carrier bags. So the only effect is to clog up the store with carts 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shopping at the Marinos at Foster/Sheridan has become a humiliation ritual ever since they stopped putting out hand baskets

@KfcTokyo @Eric_Erins It is happening at Millennium Park as well. Baffling. I managed to get a basket last week by doing onto the employees section, and felt for several minutes afterwards as if security would chase and apprehend me. .

@showtimehcky @chi_urbanist No, however “not even close” implied that Lincoln Park was not even close to Central Park, and I’d say the lack of a beach in Central Park presents an issue for this claim. Also, the zoo in Lincoln Park is free.

Nothing compares to the vibrancy Central Park brings to NYC. Sure, Lincoln Park is larger in total acreage, but CP packs a bigger punch in a "smaller" more condensed form. The accessibility, tree covered pathways, ice rinks, parks, Museums, Restaurant, Ponds, Reservoirs, etc is unmatched. Chicago has nothing even close to it.

@Eric_Erins The beach will be permanently underwater within the next 20-50 years.

I don’t get Miami it’s my understanding Miami Beach is less desirable than ‘Miami’ despite the BEACH and all of the historic stuff being over in the beach part

@dieworkwear YSL menswear was a department store staple in the UK in the 80s and 90s. Mediocre designs, passable quality, more reminiscent of the perfume than the couture line. When they ditched the Cassandra logo (!) and the “Yves” it became a whole other brand.

This would require a whole new thread. But while it's obvs true that YSL has been big since the 1960s, it exploded in popularity between 2012 and 2016 when Hedi Slimane was appointed creative director. Together with Kanye's influence, Slimane shaped many trends of that era.
kit@kitbracadabra

I have great respect for what Derek does. That being said, saying that YSL only became popular a decade ago (and because of Kanye at that), is one of the most insane things I have seen on this side of twitter

@seatsixtyone I was at Euston on Friday. They’ve repurposed the giant advertising screen to approximate what the (perfectly good) old departure boards used to do. However, they’ve added arrows pointing to the platforms, and these arrows point in the wrong directions. You couldn’t make it up.

@Eric_Erins Use the Philips Hue system. All you need is power to the light fitting, then the on/off control is wireless (can still have wall switch). Some attractive bulb options, including dimmable filament. And all programmable.

I think my apartment needs sconces. I know it was wired for them when the place was built. But I have absolutely no clue where in the walls any of the wiring is at

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We’ve never said this before but here’s a near perfect modern home in PEMBERTON BC (Canada) on 32 acres for only $10,800,000(USD). At 3,427 sq ft this home is very nicely laid out and surrounds you with wood, the way we were meant to live. Bonus, it also has an additional 3,500 sq ft barn-inspired design studio.

Less disrespectful than the reply, which involved namecalling and projection and has now been deleted by the author. I have a screen grab.
Paul Blythe@paulblythe1

@stammertime @AiredaleStammer Rather disrespectful to a qualified, very experienced speech therapist specialising in stammering. Hardly the way to encourage people to share their experiences and thoughts.

@paulblythe1 Incidentally, what do you mean by “trusted account”? Are you referring to the Twitter/X blue check scheme? I think that went away a while ago.

@paulblythe1 “Misleading” is me understating the situation. The account presents opinion as fact, and uses the NHS badge to add an air of authority. Not great, and not helped a jot by the aggressive response of the account holder.

@paulblythe1 The central difficulty, in both interactions, seems to follow from the dogma that “it isn’t stammering which is a problem but how other people and society generally view it”. If this is official NHS policy, I will be interested to know the basis. 4/ends

@paulblythe1 Adult onset stammering is highly idiosyncratic. Its treatment options should be as well – basically, any type of stammering intervention, including those that induce instant fluency, has the potential to be effective. Once again, no willingness to discuss. 3/4
