IN PRINCIPLE UNDERSTANDING REACHED... We made significant progress this evening in our talks with the Govt. MHA, Apex & KDA leaders of Ladakh had a broad consensus on restoring democracy with a tailor made legislative body that will have executive, financial & law making powers and have safeguards under article 371 of the constitution. Elected leader of the legislative body will have overall control over the Chief Secretary and rest of bureaucracy. In due course Ladakh will be accorded full statehood when it has enough revenue of its own to support the operational expenses of salaries, pensions etc. #Ladakh

While J&K remained trapped in political & sectarian bickering, Ladakh rose above religious lines. It's now close to securing Art-371 safeguards just like Nagaland. Our heads should hang in shame for behaving like rain frogs — visionless & impatient. Mubarak to #Ladakh
