Well, I've been meaning to do a pinned intro, so I may as well do it now with contact options. Hi! I'm a mixed-Japanese femme based in Toronto. I do cultural consultation in TTRPGs, and I'm always open to contracts for anything that draws from Japanese history/culture.

Super cool way to connect another field with anime - by @starchaeologist! "Using perspectives from archaeological representation studies, this paper explores trends in...how shakōki dogū appear in Japanese media, such as anime, manga, and games." doi.org/10.1177/146960…

Yesterday, someone pointed to my shakōki dogū necklace and said "that looks familiar for some reason." Perfect timing, I just published my study of Jōmon dogū in pop culture through J of Social Archaeology! It's open access if you're interested 😸 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/14…

The new centre is part of a plan for former Ontario Place, a provincial redevelopment project that has been a mess. Last summer they removed the Japanese Canadian Centennial Temple Bell (also by Moriyama), but claim it will be returned one day. hyperallergic.com/846617/monumen…

I see the JCCC news as related to the closure and call for demolition of the Ontario Science Centre earlier this summer. This is another building designed by Raymond Moriyama, and an important public institution for many in Ontario. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

Feeling tired as I learn more things related to the history of Japanese Canadian communities may disappear, become less accessible, or be irreparably altered. Just a short list for those interested in more info, but mostly needed to rant a little. 🧵

July has really flown by for me. Feels like it was only last week that we recorded this, but it was not. Thanks Ken and Gabe for a great chat on the New Brunswick Archaeology Podcast! rss.com/podcasts/nbarc…

I rang the bell today. I'm done. No more infusions. No more pumps. And hopefully, no more cancer, we'll learn more about that early in June. But I'm done. 6 of the longest months of my life, but I did it.
