You can't simply CONVERT someone into using or buying your product if all you just blurt out are the features and technicalities. Here's Sam Altman (@sama) in 2008 talking about Loopt. Notice how he uses STORYTELLING, combining daily relatable human activities, and tapping into the PSYCHOLOGICAL NEED to connect with others. And yes, you can try learning and applying this too. Here's a breakdown: 1. Arousing Interest → Grabbing attention by connecting to a common experience: mentioning that the main reason you likely have a phone is to connect with people. 2. States the Problem → Introducing the problem of missing connections with friends despite having a phone for communication. Shows how cool it is if you know where people are, what they're doing, and interesting places around you. 3. Problem Agitation → Getting that specific pain point of missed opportunities due to lack of awareness about friends' whereabouts. You might be at a restaurant near a friend or stuck in an airport with an old classmate but not know about it because you can't see each other's locations. 4. Solution Presentation → Positions Loopt as the answer to bridge the gap and facilitate serendipitous moments: 🗹 Shows the app's ease of use through relatable scenes. 🗹 States feature usage + human activity → He sees that a friend is at a cute cafe and decides to see if she's free for lunch. He leaves a comment on her journal and if she's free, he can get directions with a click. 🗹 Shows benefits + emotions ↓ • Never have to eat lunch alone again (avoiding loneliness) • Discover cool places nearby (ease, comfort, access, and status) • Connect with people spontaneously (growing your network and strengthening it) 5. Cueing for Action → Ends by mentioning where Loopt can be found and that it's freely available for iPhone in the App Store, prompting people to check it out or download and use it. ___ Clip source: CNET Link: youtu.be/KhhId_WG7RA?si… ___ Gaining some insights? Did you know that @NVIDIA's co-founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, was also a ping-pong player? And a certain tournament in which he wasn't able to get the first place taught him valuable lessons that may have contributed to his leadership, work ethic, determination, and giving his 100%-150%. His NVIDIA co-founder Chris Malachowsky recalled: "The role of a leader is not only to point people in the right direction, but it's to motivate them to get there, to give them a vision of the future, to give them a vision of what success looks like, and to give them the courage to push past the minor bumps and hurdles that come along the way. Jensen's exceptional at this." Winners don't play their best every single point. "...the difference between somebody who's passionate for a day, hardworking for three days, and somebody who has grit really is the consistency over time." @angeladuckw, author, professor, and co-founder of @thecharacterlab points out the keys to long-term goals. Q: How do you establish a culture of failure and celebration of failure? Instead of cliché answers, @astroteller, captain of @Theteamatx provided situational examples. Here's one: If you finished a project and lost all the tools and software, but you could keep the people and everything that was in your heads about the project you had built, and you had to rebuild the thing once it was working from scratch, how long would it take you as a percentage of your time?
