If there’s one thing Disney has done well, it’s portray the wrath of Darth Vader

I think there’s something uniquely fitting about Darth Vader never being able to truly best his Jedi master. He is more powerful, yes, but we didn’t need to see him win to know that. There is more to the force than raw power or even refined skill. Kenobi is Vader’s weakness.

@BrickArmyClone Couldn’t tell ya why he doesn’t show up at the end. Maybe something about their connection doesn’t allow him to? Maybe he can still come back? Maybe it’s just a miss by the writers? Idk

@starwarslab Wait but Ben’s ghost doesn’t show up in the Rey Skywalker scene. Wouldn’t, well, given his connection to Rey, he be there? I’m not even a fan of this scene personally but I understand it’s important for the character

People who don’t acknowledge Kylo’s dominance here are either being disingenuous or aren’t very familiar with the film and are loosely recounting what they can remember from a viewing in the distant past. Kylo outclasses Rey in knowledge and skill throughout this movie.

@BrickArmyClone Because Rey had been practicing the ability to connect with the cosmic force in that way and Ben had not. Also, while I wish Ben had lived and that he and Rey had defeated Sidious together, Leia is the reason he became a force ghost. She didn’t abandon him, she saved him.

@starwarslab So if they can give her that power why not Ben, who was a good guy atp? It honestly makes Luke and Leia look like they learned nothing from their mistakes with him and are abandoning him and leaving him to die.

@BrickArmyClone To me, that fight was less about Rey vs Sidious and more about “all the Jedi” vs “all the Sith,” as they each proclaim themselves. Rey levels up here, and the Jedi (the light) stand with her. Remember that Palpatine throttles her before she finally connects with the past jedi.

@starwarslab Wait if Kylo beat her then how the heck did Rey stand any chance against Palpatine in this same movie?

@InLoveRumin True. Not to mention that he’d just unalived his father, which skyrocketed his conflict and threw him completely out of balance.

@starwarslab When 7 released there were complaints about how two untrained combatants (Finn & Rey) were competent against Kylo, but idk from what I saw Kylo was mostly dominating them despite having a massive chewy blaster shot wound.

@carlmeowner On a crash course to meet in the middle and even to swap roles for a moment, to fully understand each other, and then move forward as one!

@starwarslab I love how on the surface we have good vs evil, but both characters act the opposite of that perception. Kylo is calm and collected, while Rey is angry and off balance.
