Because the rule to prevent clock draining offense is using the rules already in place, not adding more rules. To me, pressure defense in a clock drain situation is a genuinely fascinating cat and mouse game inside the game.

The idea people think this is unfair escapes me. Don’t want opponents dribbling out the clock? There’s a rule for that. It’s called the 5-second count. I have to think the defense was content letting the clock drain, or else the defensive strategy here is abysmal.
