@Liikennepsykol1 @RaphaelMerz Our hope was to convey that an effect may be there, but that more research is needed to clarify. Taking our article as a whole, we believe we achieved this. Out of interest, though, how would you have conveyed/reported our findings? Thanks for your interest in our research! (2/2)

@Liikennepsykol1 @RaphaelMerz For nonsignificant findings we highlighted point estimates while clarifying that too much error exists to support the effect. I do see your point about 'likely' and 'suggest': words like these can, if one isn’t careful, lead results to be misconstrued (1/2)

🚀Very excited to finally see our paper on nonsignificance misinterpretations published! 📈 Together, @ste_lee_murphy, @aurelio_fdez, Linda Reimann and I investigated the prevalence of "p > .05 = absence of an effect" interpretations. (1/4) doi.org/10.1098/rsos.2…

Periodic reminder that our research group in Switzerland is steadily expanding. If you’re interested in writing a grant together to do a postdoc on the meta science of error detection or measurement then get in touch! We can offer great scenery, salary, and shitposting.

Very excited to share our new preprint! 📢 We investigated how often researchers misinterpret statistically nonsignificant results as the absence of an effect. Spoiler: it’s a lot (~81% of 599 articles)! Dive into our findings and their implications here: osf.io/preprints/psya…

Really enjoyed presenting our work on smartphone-based emotion regulation at #ICA24. We found that media-selection is the main driver of the association between affect and smartphone ER over time. It was special to be part of such great panel, and to see so many familiar faces!

These past few days I had the amazing opportunity to join a fascinating meta-science conference/workshop, where @SteMurphy86 and I presented our project on misinterpretations of statistical nonsignificance. Truly a memorable experience! Thanks for having us @lakens!

Looking back with gratitude to an incredible meeting of Perspectives on Scientific Error with so many wonderful people who have been working on reducing errors in science. It was great to see everyone meet, interact, and work together. One of the nicest conferences in my career!

We thought that if we survived two PhDs (including one completed in Covid lockdown), several job search cycles, and several moves, and still didn't kill each other, we probably got something good going on. So we went to Denmark and got married🙃 @vponizovsky

Wish me luck! I’m going for Psych Science editor in chief again. Here’s my vision statement from when I applied in 2019, if you want to see what kind of stuff I’d push for: sometimesimwrong.typepad.com/wrong/2019/06/…

Please write APS at editorsearch@psychologicalscience.org and nominate Simine Vazire and Chris Chambers for Chief Editor of Psychological Science. We should try and support open-science supportive editors for such roles. Maybe, just maybe, if enough people write in...
