Sedans have got to make a comeback. I am so tired of seeing SUVs everywhere! (The small SUVs get a pass, but they’re on thin ice.) ***it should be implicitly understood that robust, fast, cheap public transit would be far better than continuing to rely on cars***

@suchnerve Government regulation caused vehicles to get larger, and that then created a culture of desiring large vehicles. Even if we allowed smaller vehicles, I doubt we’d see many people driving around the tiny cars Europeans tend to love. I’d like to see them get smaller though

For heavy , large vehicles with larger battery packs the normal home charging is often not sufficient to fill up, so additional fast charging is needed. The slow charging circuitry is adding extra cost and may therefore be taken out.

@suchnerve 2) Slow charging from AC ( 110-220-240 volts) always has to go through an AC to AC Up-conversion, then rectified to make the DC charge voltage. This will work well with small to medium sized battery packs (up to 50kW) ,filled in a night without overloading the home wiring.

EVs not supporting DC slow charging seems illogical in the context of so many people now having solar panel + home battery setups, which currently must invert their DC into AC only for an EV’s onboard power supply to turn it right back into DC - about 10 to 20% total power loss.
