Do the "Types of Ads" configurations not apply to the YouTube App on AppleTV etc.? Unless things have changed recently, the YouTuber used to be able to configure whether we wanted skippable vs non-skippable ads in the pre-roll mid-rolls etc. Are these just disregarded on TV?
Steggy tweet media
Dexerto@Dexerto

Linus Tech Tips has called out YouTube for adding 30-second unskippable ads to its TV app "When will it be enough? Are we just going to go all the way back to cable TV with three-minute ad breaks? Can we not?"

And the academy award for most useful streaming accessory goes to… @elgato Stream Deck+ 📱🎛️ 🏆 Whether it’s a Twitch streaming setup or a broadcasting setup at the Oscars, if you keep your eyes peeled you can find Stream Deck just about anywhere.

@thiojoe @JFest This discussion arose because we released brand new hardware products and a new software basically re-built from the ground up which are Win11 only -- IMO there's a big difference between building new products/apps vs continuing to maintain the apps which already supported Win10

@JFest Personally I’d have suggested to at least continue support during the “extended security update” phase microsoft offered to consumers for free. The “end of life” is in name only for at least until October (they did 1 year free extended updates).

If Elgato goes bust, just know it was because of my clueless management which resulted in us dropping support for Windows 10
Scorpio@Scorpiopt

@JFest @Gr1zZtv Absolutely clueless , if anyone still wonder how companies sink all of the sudden its because of management like this

If you're just slapping a battery/monitor/USB dock/keyboard and mouse, it would be even cheaper than the Macbook and the user will have all of thier files always on them. And hotels, airports, libraries can have "computer stations" where you just dock your phone, work on what you need with a full PC experience, and unplug and go back to mobile mode.

Now that the Macbook Neo is here & we see that mobile cpus can sufficiently power computers for a large group of people... When are we going to revisit the Asus Padfone concept where Apple makes tablet/laptop/desktop husks and a user simply docks their phone as the brain?

@_MightyPotato Yes Wave Link works with all Stream Decks - I actually love the way we visualize volume controls on our LCD keys to make it feel almost like a fader -- while yes, you'll be able to ultimately configure volumes quicker with a dial on an SD+/+XL, normla stream decks do great too

@Steggy I have the original stream deck, will that be sufficient with the XLR Pro? Or do I need to get one of these new ones with the knobs?

As you wait for more info on Wave XLR Pro - what I want to communicate is this: Imagine you take your traditional mixer, which has Ins/outs, & control, and split that up. Wave XLR Pro is your IO Stream Deck+ is your control And with this you get MORE control than ever before

“I have friends who didn’t like 8GB of RAM 6 years ago therefore no one can use an 8gb computer ever”
Jason W@jmwilt21

@AndyH_England I've heard way too many stories of people saying 8gb ram ages terribly with M1 MacBooks. Even for general use, not intensive stuff.

While trying to just copy the GoXLR might have been easier from a marketing perspective, our ultimate goal is to evolve the space and create the best solutions for creators and not just maintain the status quo because it's easier. This will be the more challenging path as we have to educate to overcome biases of users' previous experiences with audio - namely using devices where all controls are fixed to single function, using faders with a fixed 0-100 value, etc. vs. Stream Deck which has the ultimate flexibility in controlling all aspects of your stream from one device, and utilizing endless dials to give it that flexibility and reduce desk space. With the IO split from the control, you have a lot more options based on freeing desk space - @HarrisHeller for example 3D printed an under-desk cradle for his Wave XLR Pro so he'd still have access to the headphone ports (it also has a 1/4" to help with creative mounting solutions) Or even if you keep it on your desk - you can keep the Wave XLR Pro in the back since it will have a lot of cables coming out from behind it - while your controller with a single cable can remain in front so your control is close at hand. If we only had an all-in-one as an option, you're forced to have everything quite in the foreground on your desk, which IMO isn't ideal. However - we're still looking into creating docks for SD+XL which can achieve that all-in-one form factor for those who want it. Just has a few hurdles we're looking into solutions for.

@Steggy It would save even more space and still allow for upgrading alongside it as well. I know a lot of people would use said device alongside a regular SD or multiple as it is. It also saves desk space which is very important. Hoping for that GoXLR type device in the future!

@Yawger20 This setup easily scales up and down depending on budget. SD+XL is not the only device that can control Wave XLR Pro. SD+ can, Stream Deck 15 key can, or even Stream Deck Mobile can. $700 is the absolute top end option you can go with, there are numerous options under $500 total

@Steggy Its just too bad this setup will cost $700. I was expected around $500. Similar to other mediums Maybe it'll be better though. Im not buying until my GoXLR finally dies though and it's still running strong after 5 years.

@SULLY___21 @elgato XLR docks are currently not compatible with Stream Deck+ XL - we ran into some issues power-wise when using both devices over a single USB so we're looking into a solution which will most likely be a SD+XL specific SKU for the dock. Our USB Hub dock works for SD+XL though

@SpikeLeStrange Have you tried out the action trigger? It's pretty sick it lets create your own custom action where you assign 3 LCD key actions to your dial in case the ones built into stream deck don't apply to you

When we say XL we mean it. Stream Deck+ XL features the most LCD keys out of any of our devices - 36 keys total, along with 6 dials with the corresponding touch strip. It's an absolute unit.

@SpikeLeStrange Just picking those because they'd give you the closest approximation of inputs that SD+XL has. AKA SD+'s 8 keys/4 dials + SD XL's 32 keys = 40 keys/4 dials compared to SD+ XL's 36 keys/6 dials. So I'm saying the price is pretty commensurate to the number of inputs it has

Traditional mixers will have a static board of every control possible but are fixed to those specific controls - there's no flexibility, it makes a product huge, and gives you analysis paralysis when trying to control your audio. With Stream Deck as your front end, you have the options to add the same controls assigned to LCD keys or dials as you would on a traditional mixer, but you get to pick and choose to only the controls you need at your finger tips, so you cut through the noise. But more than that - using pages, profiles, smart profiles, multi actions, etc. Your single Stream Deck device doesn't JUST control your audio - but controls every other aspect of your stream. Your camera controls, lighting, your OBS scenes, your chat, etc. Everything's centralized in one place. And the best part is upgradeability is far more flexible. If you bought a GoXLR, when you're upgrading your audio, you're replacing the whole GoXLR. When you use Stream Deck and Wave XLR - you can pair different models together, and upgrade as you need, and only replace what you need. AKA I can start with SD+ and Wave XLR, 2 years later I might upgrade to Wave XLR Pro, and then 2 years later I could upgrade my SD+ to a + XL. Or I could mix my SD+ XL with a Wave XLR MK.2. Any combo I wish. It makes it a lot less fiscally daunting to change my setup.
