@alexaugerdev people forget that NES games came with instruction manuals! and we read them cover to cover, usually on the car ride home from the store! the Z1 manual had a ton of story and details, there was plenty of context and plenty of explanation! nintendo.co.jp/clv/manuals/en…

What a way to start this wonderful series! The fact they start you out with so very little context and leaves players to figure it all out, either through play or making out the info from the manual, speaks volumes about its confidence in this concept.

Over the rest of this month, I'll be making positive threads about each mainline Zelda game for the 40th anniversary, from LOZ to EOW! Maybe adding some of the spin-offs I've played too! Series always was an important part of my life and it deserves recognition :)

@RobertDaleSmith @AxelLopes8 Yes, this is often called UD/LR and is banned in most all speedrunning as it cannot be done on an unmodified console/controller. it does similar things in many games on both NES and SNES, and most emulators have a “disable UD/LR” option to prevent it from accidentally happening.

@ifairyboy this is why games are “localized” and not just translated. translation is just converting words, localizing is converting the feeling and intention behind the words. nintendo has amazing localizers. there’s a series about this called “legends of localization” you might like.
