April 7th➦In 1908...Percy Faith was born (Died at age 67 – February 9, 1976), He was a Canadian bandleader, orchestrator, composer and conductor, known for his lush arrangements of pop and Christmas standards. He is often credited with popularizing the "easy listening" or "mood music" format. Faith became a staple of American popular music in the 1950s and continued well into the 1960s. Faith was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. After his hands were badly burned in a fire, he turned to conducting, and his live orchestras used the new medium of radio broadcasting.

I was listening to Man at the weekend. Thus inspired, I decided to read this book again. One of the greatest books about being in a band that's ever been written.

@DreamWeaver909 @andrewbrooks Fabulous . Great if those tapes have been cleaned up but I love the noise / hiss / atmosphere on those original tapes as well . Why are those tapes not talked about much in general ? I think they contain some of the most brilliantly unhinged rock n roll ever .

@lennylaw @KateGarnerMusic My sister and I have played all our lives ( she piano , me guitar ) . It’s got me through life I think , I’ve managed to (just about) earn a living from it for the last 30 years and it keeps me happy . I really don’t know what I’d do without music .

@stephen_noyce @KateGarnerMusic Very much so. My mum played piano until the day she died, my dad could get a tune out of anything. They didn’t push me into music but I picked up the guitar at 14 and taught myself. My personal feeling is that I should’ve been a drummer - it’s one of my things for retirement.

@_thisheat_ Simon Reynolds was a huge influence on my record buying habits in the late ‘70s and ‘80s . That influence lasts to this day . Great band and what a fabulous box set .

@lennylaw @KateGarnerMusic What a fabulous picture ! So much joy there . That’s very similar to when my nan played - aunts , uncles , grandkids , all stood around enjoying the music . I was lucky to grow up with lots of music in my life , looks like you were too .

@stephen_noyce @KateGarnerMusic My grandparents were all Londoners of that generation, all played the piano, all played stride. My mum at the piano at my grandparents place, with her uncle, playing a duet, probably about 1978, everyone singing along.
