Illinois St. isn't a power house but they are a top 100 net team, which makes this a quad 2 win (by 22). Probably one of the better games Auburn has played outside of maybe the Florida win. Got a little lackadaisical midway through the second half but never really let them back in it. Offense was great in the first half and defense was very solid in the second half. Had we played like that down the last stretch of the RS, we probably make the dance. But then again, we also probably wouldn't be playing in April for a championship. I'm all for winning the NIT, and I hope our guys don't forget how to play basketball between now and Sunday. I also hope they don't get a big head after a great game today. But regardless of what happens, I think it's easy to see what I was saying 2 weeks ago. There's plenty of young talent. Get them to play more basketball. Get better over the NIT and carry momentum into next year. Retain as much of the young talent as we can, and bring in a big guy to help with defense. If that's the plan, Steven Pearl is working it out beautifully.

1) Both McCraine brothers graduated from Smiths Station, which is a public high school. 2) If you are talking about their time priorly at Glenwood, I watched those Glenwood teams and, particularly, both of them at numerous sporting events. If you think because they went to an AISA school in the beginning of their high school career that means they are soft, you’d be sadly mistaken. 3) I’m begging you, as a former journalist, to do your research because guess where Brennan Holt went to high school? Yep, that’d be Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge. I know you might be wondering, “Gee, that doesn’t sound like a public high school.” You’d be right. It’s private!
