The neocons are using the nuclear threat in an attempt to shut down anyone pointing out how poorly the war is going & its effect on the American people because there is no actual justification for this foolish war. Prior to the war the U.S. IC assessed Iran wasn’t developing a nuclear weapon & their enrichment program was obliterated in June by our airstrikes. The Israelis were concerned that Trump was about to get a deal with Iran & launched an attack on Iran knowing the Iranians would respond by attacking us, thereby sucking us into the war. Because the actual reason that we are in this war is so absurd and can’t be said out loud, the war’s advocates are falling back on the old “WMDs in the hands of the terrorists!” line.

This is only a short list of what Trump did regarding Iran during his first term. The scale of these actions alone makes the claim that “Israel is pulling the strings” to launch Operation Epic Fury not add up. He has his own vision of the Middle East and his own understanding of Iran 1- Launched the Maximum Pressure campaign against the Iranian regime and the IRGC, reimposing sweeping sanctions 2- Designated the IRGC as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, the first time the U.S. labeled part of another state’s military as a terrorist group. 3- Ordered the strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, the architect of Iran’s regional proxy network. 4- Authorized strikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria after attacks on U.S. personnel and installations. 5- Launched strikes against pro-Assad and Russian-linked forces in Syria collaborating with Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias. 6- Severely reduced Iran’s oil revenues through sanctions on energy exports, banking networks, and shipping infrastructure. 7- Imposed sanctions on senior IRGC officials, front companies, arms networks, and entities tied to Iran’s missile program. 8- Backed the Abraham Accords, which strengthened regional cooperation between Israel and Arab states against Iran. 9- Increased the U.S. military presence and deterrence posture in the Gulf after Iranian attacks on oil infrastructure and maritime shipping. 10- Withdrew from the JCPOA, arguing the agreement empowered Iran financially while failing to stop its regional expansionism and missile development. 11- Targeted Iranian-linked financial channels used to fund Hezbollah and other regional proxy groups. 12- Supported Israeli freedom of action against Iranian entrenchment in Syria. 13- Responded militarily after the killing of an American contractor by Iran-backed militias in Iraq. 14- Pressured European allies and international companies to cut economic ties with Iran through secondary sanctions. 15- Pushed to diplomatically isolate Iran across the Middle East while strengthening ties with Gulf states opposed to Iranian expansionism. 16- Escalated strategic competition with China while targeting the networks linking Beijing to Iran. 17- Restricted Chinese technology companies and pushed allies to reduce dependence on Chinese telecommunications infrastructure, including concerns over Gulf and Middle Eastern digital networks. 18-Framed China as the central long term strategic competitor of the United States, reshaping U.S. national security policy around great power competition instead of endless regional accommodation with Iran. 19- Increased pressure on Chinese entities and shipping networks involved in sanction evasion and Iranian oil purchases. …

@SenatorDurbin That’s right. We keep screaming for voter integrity, constitutional redistricting, and generally good economic policy, so that everybody has an opportunity to rise above it all.

Republicans keep scheming to maintain their grip on power. Democrats rightfully responded and held the line in the short term. Long term… we need a permanent end to partisan gerrymandering.

@katieporterca This will be the best thing to happen to black voters and the black community since Republicans freed them from slavery. This will allow them to flee the new plantation, a.k.a. the ghetto that you built for them.

The point of the Voting Rights Act is to say that every vote matters, but the sickening decision from the Supreme Court today will only make it easier for MAGA Republicans to dilute the power of Black and Brown voters. I fought back against the Trump Administration’s attacks on our democracy in Congress and I’ll defend voting rights when I’m governor too.

@harryjsisson Except for these two minor details it would be a bad midterm for the Republicans… 1-democrats have already used up 98% of their redistricting options. 2-blue states are hemorrhaging voters by the millions.(this means they are going to lose any new gained seats anyway) FAFO

This decision is outrageous. MAGA is SCARED of YOU. They know they LOSE when Black, Latino, and diverse voters are heard — so they shut them up and rig the maps. We’re not backing down. November is coming.

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
Today's Supreme Court decision is a direct assault on the promise of the Voting Rights Act. It risks disenfranchising millions of Americans along racial lines and weakening the very foundation of our democracy. Democracy is not self-sustaining. We must build, preserve, and defend it together. Here in New York City, we will always lead a government of, by, and for the people — all of the people.
