@assface_burner thats fair. I applaud you for diversifying more into other tickers. I would say your stronger suit IMO is your SPX plays.

@Atitty Was it because of wash sales ? I remember news of a Robinhood trader that kept trading spy. He made 40k in net but owes 800k in taxes..

I know someone who made $3,000,000 in profit this year but lost it all Now he owes the government $500,000 and can’t pay them back What should he do?

@stev3c @Mindsetfx Your comment is right. Yes, the exemption is $15M. But if the gift is to an irrevocable trust, no step up is made. You can get stepped up if in a revocable trust or a Will. In that case only kids can use it after dad dies, but the dad can't as it's self dealing.

Dad buys stock at $250K. It grows to $12M. If he sells, he owes tax on an $11.75M gain. Instead, he puts it in a trust. Borrows against it. Borrowing is not income. So no tax. He lives on loans. Never sells. He dies holding the asset. Kids inherit at a $12M basis. IRS gets $0.

@HansHaneberg @Mindsetfx I think I'm wrong on the comment. I used perplexity, chatgpt and Gemini to get my results but Im getting different responses from all..I looked up the big beautiful bill act and I believe they increased the exemption to $15 million. So anything below will get the step up in basis

I Lost $1M in the Stock Market 😲📉
+$18,750 play confluence thought process 1. Supply zone level. Higher liquidity area 2. Equally, the opening range mid. If you look at my past posts, you’ll see me post about the MID reauction and rejection as a signal of put entry. This level also happens to be low of day for Monday. 3. Cumulative volume delta on that pump up was very weak. That’s all buyers could muster? Did not give enough confidence for continuation 4. Pushed into a positive (suppressive) charm zone. Dealer deltas increased, forcing continuous futures selling to stay hedged Likely some unpinning going on from the JPM COLLAR. I need to look through the tape and flow to investigate it a bit.

+$18,750 (100%). Good way to end the year. Last and final play of 2025. I didn’t have time to call this out on X, sorry. Was really focused on the position and confluences. Also, while greeting the in-laws who arrived shortly after I opened the position. Almost like I need a different way to more easily communicate intraday hah.

Realized gains this year: $210,062. $92,119 of that came from options. Living in California means I’ll owe roughly $108,027 in taxes. That’s over half of what I earned…gone. Absolutely disgusting. The IRS is robbing us of our hard earned cash… Sad.

@skumWgmi For most people they can only claim 3k in losses max. The 38k will be carried forward every year until the 3k per year deduction is exhausted. So about 12.6 years.

If you buy Bitcoin at $126,000 and it goes to $88,000 you can sell it and buy it back 6 seconds later you still have the same one Bitcoin But you can realize a capital loss of $38,000 for tax purposes

🚨 THIS IS WHY ALTCOINS ARE BLEEDING Nobody knows what they’re talking about, so I’ll explain everything. People need to stop saying retail is gone, that’s not the story. This move isn’t coming from small players, and the timing is not random. Here’s the real explanation: This pressure is coming from funding and leverage. Over the last few weeks, altcoin funding rates turned aggressively positive. That means: – Too many longs – Too much leverage – Too many positions When leverage builds up like this, bad news isn’t required for the price to drop. A small dip is enough. That dip liquidates crowded longs, liquidation pressure pushes price lower, stops get hit, spot holders react late, and forced selling takes over. Then it repeats. This is exactly what’s playing out right now. Just look at the data: – Open interest is starting to fall – Longs are being liquidated aggressively – Spot buyers are nowhere to be found Excess leverage is being removed. And here’s what most people don’t get: this is actually a good thing. You don’t get sustainable upside when the entire market is already long. Just so you know, I’ve been studying macro for over 20 years, and I’ve been in Bitcoin for more than a decade. I called the last 2 major market tops and bottoms. When the next bottom is in and I start buying BTC again, I’ll say it here so you can copy my moves. If you still haven’t followed me, you’ll regret it.

@GrindeOptions I have and I was young, dumb, and lucky. Bought my first OTC on a friend’s FDA rumor: ~$20k of ADMD at ~$0.0003. Ended up with ~22M shares. It ran to almost a penny, and I sold it for about $120k. My friend made out with 260k.

@assface_burner I might have to switch back to IBKR or reopen my account. I’ve been using TOS for 10 years, so I’m really used to it. But I love that you can trade SPX before the market opens, and how it updates estimate your options price
