@sheilatebra British Cop here. My general rule of thumb is if people pass the attitude test the verbal warning is a lot more likely than the ticket. You wouldn't have got a ticket from me either.

Anonymous Got pulled over last week. Speeding. I was doing 50 in a 35. No excuse. I was late for work and being stupid. Cop walks up. I'm ready for the lecture and ticket. Calculating if I can afford it. He looks at my license. Looks at me. "You know why I pulled you over?" I nod. "Yeah. I was speeding. I'm sorry." He hands me back my license. No ticket. "Slow down. Get to work safe." And he walks back. I sat there confused. Waited for him to come back with the ticket. He didn’t. Just drove away. Left me with a warning that wasn’t even formal. Just "slow down." I got to work. Told my coworker. He laughed. "You got lucky." But it didn’t feel like luck. Someone saw me having a bad morning and chose not to make it worse. Could've written that ticket. Should've. Didn't. Two days ago I'm driving home. See a car pulled over on the shoulder. Hazards on. Hood up. Pouring rain. Almost kept driving. Almost. Then I thought about that cop. About how he could've made my day worse and didn’t. I pulled over. Guy’s soaked. Car overheated. Called him a tow truck. Waited 30 minutes in the rain so he wasn’t alone. He tried to pay me. I said no... He asked why I stopped. I told him about the cop. About the ticket I didn’t get. About how someone gave me a break and it made me want to give someone else a break. He said, "I hope that cop knows what he started." I hope he does too. One traffic stop where mercy was chosen over money has turned into at least two people helping strangers. And I’m not stopping. 🤍

@LeeHurstComic Hi Lee. There is a police force who's sole purpose is guarding nuclear sites. The Civil Nuclear Constabulary is almost fully made up of firearms officers similar to the Ministry of Defence.

I have just done some basic research on SMRs as I worry about a terrorist or conventional military or missile attack on one. It suggests damage would be localise to about 1km. I would still prefer and be happier if the SMRs were protected by armed guards, perhaps the Military Police, but my fears over them have been reduced. I would say bin renewables and go for it.
Ben Graham@BenGrahamUK

What matters here is what SMRs actually do in practice. Each unit can power hundreds of thousands of homes with consistent, low carbon electricity, unlike unreliable renewables, they’re not weather dependent. That means a more stable grid, less reliance on imports, and fewer price shocks for households.

@theRealEnzoMac So sorry for your loss Enzo. But if it's any consolation I'm sure she must have been one of the proudest mums in Wales when she looked at her 'little boy'. Take care mate. 🙏

@dougiefischer A hell of a career. Just a shame he never got to fight Martinez/Cotto/Alvarez when they were hogging The Ring belt and he was the obvious number 1 contender.

For the historians, what’s the last fight you can remember before today when a guy was knocked down four times in a row and then came back to win?

@comicbookaddt This one for me, probably because it was the first Iron Man comic I ever bought off the spinner rack.

@IPhillips79 @MartGray Even as a youngster who'd only seen 2 or even 3 episodes of The Gentle Touch the two shows seemed tonally very different. I still think I'll have to give both a watch though.

The Gentle Touch - Sue Nicholls (Audrey in Corrie) as a gangster's moll (1980) Excellent, gritty, award-winning Friday night drama. Jill Gascoine became the first-ever leading lady in a British police drama series & was hugely loved by the public for her role as Maggie. RIP❤️

@SarahMillican75 Hi Sarah. We brought my dad to watch your Bobby Dazzler show in Llandudno a few years back. It was several years since his wife died. You made him laugh for the first time since. I'm sure you hear stuff like this all the time but just wanted to let you know x

@ATokkers5 It still amazes me that he fought for the European title just 4 weeks before a World title fight. It was impressive then but would be unthinkable now.
