What finally made me realise that nobody is in fact going to lose their job to AI is when I experienced World of Warcraft's customer support. Sounds like a weird example, but if a multibillion dollar company backed by Microsoft can't get AI right even after many years of them attempting to implement this ridiculously simple usecase then the value perhaps in fact is not there. Now my claim (nobody will lose jobs) is true in the long term. In the short term we will continue to have all the headlines about big tech layoffs because they're desperately trying to justify the investment to their shareholders - even if that means setting their product quality back by many years. Now I'm just focused on my own craft, using AI whenever it makes genuine sense (tiny supporting tasks most of the time) and I'm chilling.

the promise of being able to build faster than ever before with AI is starting to sound like a ‘get rich quick scheme’ just throw more money at it, and AI will make all your builder's dreams come true but the question pops up: where is the mother effin' ROI?

I kid you not, my ChatGPT has been straight up confidently lying for the past few days. Not just being slightly off. It straight up lies and says that I (the user) can't be 100% sure that it's not wrong. (even though I present him with hard evidence that it in fact is wrong)
