@BCLionsDen Hope the Lions pick up the tab to convert all the fields in BC then since it’s no issue.

If you're dying on the hill of 110 yards or 100 yards, relax...that is the least impactful change the league could have made, and it was made to offset other changes...the width of the field is what makes the CFL game exciting, not 10 extra yards in length.

@Dave_CHED Rules are one thing. The field changes can’t be copied by the rest of Canadian football without adding costs to these already cash strapped communities. And for that reason I find the league abdicating it’s responsibility of stewardship of the game disappointing

I think overall, the changes are positive. The field changes will be something to get used to, pleased the field width won't change. The goal posts moved to the back of the end zone will mean less FG attempts. Still 3 downs which I like. O.C's and D.C.'s have more to think about. I'm good with the modified rouge even though I will miss not having the amount of missed FG returns. Benches on opposite sides is a no-brainer. 35 second play clock which triggers automatically will change the look of the final 3 minutes of each half. Games will move a quicker. Wonder if a third time-out will be added. Overall, I'm happy to see a little risk and forward thinking compared to the status quo. #CFL

@TroyWestwood Rule changes are one thing but changing the field distances the league from the amateur level which can’t afford to change their fields.

CFL. 🇨🇦🏈 Moving the goalposts is long overdue. Makes scoring TDs safer and easier. A shortened field makes scoring TDs easier. More scoring is good. Smaller end zone is no biggie. No more rouges unless returner kneels in endzone. I now go from 6th all-time leading scorer to 27th. 😎

@FarhanLaljiTSN Ok but let’s look at the full totality. What does this mean for amateur Canadian football? Does it change to? If not there’s now rules for Canadian football, CFL and American. Or if they are changing what about the cost on communities?

Personally I love the changes. And they need to be viewed in totality, not cherry picked. Most are connected. I’m gonna miss seeing as many missed FG returns, but if it helps eliminate the failure point I’m all for it. Same with the moving back of the goalposts. It will help the game
Matthew Scianitti@TSNScianitti

The changes 2026: Modified rouge, on kneel down no missed FG or punt through an endzone 35 playclock (officials no longer blow play in) 2027: Repositioned goal post to back of endzone 20 to 15 yard endzone Benches on opposite sides in every stadium @TSN_Sports @CFLonTSN

@MiltStegallTSN CFL decided to fracture Canadian football, now there’s Canadian football the amateur sport and the CFL. Unless the league and its teams are going to go around picking up the bill to convert community fields.

@LWillson_82 @rodpedersen How is it great for Canadian football players? This is a CFL change. Who’s picking up the cost to change all the amateur fields? The already cash strapped communities? This is a fracturing of Canadian football.

Overall these are great plays by the commissioner. Despite the false and ridiculous rhetoric from @rodpedersen . The Commissioner seems to have thread the needle and kept the game uniquely Canadian while creating a lot of excitement! 2026: - ✅ different sidelines I couldn’t be more on board with this. One from a professional standpoint. Two from just as the commish says. As a player having to run way farther is ridiculous! - ✅ play clock to 35 seconds Having a ref signal the play clock to begin is ridiculous. This will standardize everything. Take something off the refs plate, game will be more fluid. Great move - ✅ out of bounds rouge I feel like most people agree this is great. Keep the rouge, just a small adjustment!! Great move. 2027: - ✅standardized endzones at 15 yards Uniquely Canadian! 50 percent larger than American End zones. Can now be standardized. Also will create more electric goal line coverages and stops. Tighter window throws as well! - ✅goal posts back Thank god. - ❓eliminating 55 I don’t quite understand this as much. I’m assuming there was more analytics done but with the goal posts moving back maybe to keep scoring up they shortened the field? All in all, great day for Canadian football players. Huge buzz! Pundits trying to lead people to believe 4 downs was coming or ratio eliminated is shameful stuff!!

@TSNDaveNaylor just heard you on @JasonGregor . When write your article I hope you consider what this means to amateur Canadian football. Who picks up the bill to alter fields across the country? Or is there now Canadian football and the CFL?

Just screwed over amateur football! So many Highschools, university, junior & minor teams play in places like Mosaic Stadium but then also play in smaller stadiums like Leibel Field… they will now have to play two different types of games… And we all know 9 CFL games a year doesn’t justify the investment that was made by the Sask Government & people of Saskatchewan.

The CFL is making a bold move to evolve the game with a set of changes centred upon entertainment and innovation. Commissioner Stewart Johnston announced that changes will be instituted over the next two seasons through a phased approach. The most significant modifications will come in 2027 with goalposts being moved to the back of the end zone and the field being re-sized. In anticipation of these structural changes, beginning in 2026, the rouge will be modified and adjustments will be introduced to ensure more consistent game flow.

@Steele131 Here is my initial feeling on it: a) I'd rather have Pickard in net b) I don't think Skinner is an option for this team next season c) I don't think this was a "with Pickard, we win" situation.

Albertans expect their tax dollars to build and expand infrastructure – not block and reduce it. We need to find better ways to manage our growth. Let’s work together to build our cities and province. I’m asking the City of Edmonton to stop building new bicycle lanes at the expense of driving lanes.

@CTVNationalNews At what point is it journalistic malpractice to base your article on someone who’s clearly unwell. I challenge anyone, especially @FakihaBaig to watch Bjorkman’s ramblings on social media and tell me with a straight face that he is someone who to put it lightly is all there.
