Riverside Police Chief says homeless former Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase can only receive help if he agrees to it. “What we’re seeing play out with Tylor is, unfortunately, something we see every day, not just in Riverside, but across California. From the videos circulating online, it’s clear he is struggling with substance abuse and untreated mental illness. The challenge is that our current mental health system is largely built around personal choice. Even when someone is clearly in crisis, they must voluntarily accept services unless very specific legal thresholds are met.” - Riverside Police Chief Larry Gonzalez. Multiple people who have tried to help the actor have revealed that Chase has not yet willingly accepted their help. A bed was made available for him in a rehab facility after he was put in a 36 hour medical hold in a hospital, which got him detoxed and clean. However he was released back onto the street and relapsed shortly afterwards. Family members and those involved are continuing to try and encourage him to enter a rehab program.
