Pammene agnotana on wood near a lure at one of it's central England strongholds mid-afternoon yesterday. Probably under-recorded - I tried for 6 hours with MOL/FUN/SKI at an Oxon woodland last year, around this time in strong sunshine - not a sniff!

Bit of an enigma - Acleris lipsiana at what was thought to be England's best location for the species. Ecstatic with the first, 'comfortably numb' by the last at dawn. I can confirm it is now. (Thanks to Iain Leach for support on the night and the image)

Devastating scene at Grafton Wood, jointly managed by ⁦@savebutterflies⁩ and ⁦@WorcsWT⁩ The heart of the wood has been near clear felled removing dozens of 100+ year oaks. They may know what they’re doing, but I don’t.

To say that the history of Buttoned Snout in Worcs is puzzling is a understatement! Only 3 records between 1899 and 1975, despite an extensive Hop Growing area west of River Severn. Then none for 43 years. Waited 21 years here at Warndon then 2 come along in one night!

For the second time this week we have caught an immigrant moth in our Wombourne garden, this time a White-point, a new one for me. An obvious size and colour difference to the similar Clay's we catch regularly. @BC_WestMids @MigrantMothUK

@ivysuckle West Hagley was confirmed but may not be on database yet... Database is always 18+ months behind due to technical process.

@stevemothman Wasn't aware of the earlier record. CMR advised my record was first confirmed for VC37 (there was an unconfirmed sighting from Malvern a few years ago). Of course it is understood there is always a chance any record may be preceded.

No question which was the star moth in the garden on Thursday night! Webb's Wainscot (Globia sparganii), rare recent arrival in the West Midlands, a species associated with bulrushes (Typha spp). New for garden & first confirmed Worcestershire VC37 record 🦋💚🍃

Uncinus obductella, the Marjoram Knot-horn, from @Bawdsey_Hall last night - the second site record after one in 2022. Perhaps a recent colonist to Suffolk.

@FPeplow You could probably write a chapter on each of the previous 6 birds and why they were not seen/shared. Shot, Politics, Paranoia, Incompetence, No Mobile Phones and Lack of Internet but not necessarily in that order!
