Johnny Mercer is in full meltdown. He knows he’s ballsed up big time. Fred Thomas has NOT said the things @JohnnyMercerUK is accusing him of saying. NOWHERE is @FredThomasUK quoted in articles saying these things because HE HASN’T SAID THEM. Today the press has turned against Mercer, but he’s so deep in his self-made hole he can only cite what a journalist wrote a year ago about Fred (as background filler in a profile piece) as his only “evidence”. Journalists often make unintentional mistakes. As someone who’s been written about for over 40 years, any article written about me which has less than 3 “errors” is more or less fine. Often, if it’s in certain papers, it’s mainly made up nonsense. “Errors” are often repeated as things go “into the cuttings”. Journalists write at speed. I think one of the most bizarre I can vaguely remember is how I once got married to a son of Saddam Hussein and moved to live with him in Newcastle! Or was that on Wikipedia? 😉
