For the record, I'm against this

JUST IN: A parasite that causes explosive diarrhea has reportedly spread to 20 U.S. states.

@KeithNHumphreys @DrDanMO Sorry (and a bit surprised) to hear that. Eminem told me that you dumped her.

@shdwstar @billgearon3 @LukeNiforatos These are drawings that claim to show that regulation is the least harmful option. They are mental models, not empirical. They may or may not happen to be right, but they don’t prove anything.

@taylorburrowes Thank you so much for keeping it real. Men don’t have to aspire to perfection - Henry Cavill and Chris Pratt are adequate for most women!

I don’t speak for all ladies, but I want you guys to know that this is a solid body goal.

What a ~20% body fat via DEXA physique looks like.

@billgearon3 @LukeNiforatos The experience with alcohol regulation always made me sceptical if cannabis regulation. Seems like there was reason for scepticism…

I bought booze regularly when in high school 50 years ago. Drinking was and is a right of passage in American society. The alcohol drug cartel has destroyed more lives and killed more people than sll other drugs combined and continues to kill over 1000,000 on average annually with no end in sight. But yeah pot is the big problem. Party on drunken slobs you are the best of us.

@nguyenhdi Also - at what point should we be talking about emotional cargo?

@KeithNHumphreys And two others: Those who can extrapolate from existing data

@OrinKerr @KeithNHumphreys You people always blame me! What did I do this time?
English

@AlexBerenson And the framing: ‘decriminalized people who use drugs’. It’s the act of using drugs that is in question. You don’t criminalize people who speed. You criminalize speeding.

@KeithNHumphreys It may be my background in alcohol policy speaking, but it’s almost like increased availability leads to increased use leads to increased harms…
English

@Micro_DarkWave @NicoReznof Indeed, the experience with alcohol was an important part of why many of us were critical of cannabis legalization. And legalization of sports betting…

@ChristineTatum @TheDamaniFelder I remember reading stuff from people who deplored the clean-up of the downtown area back in the early 2000s. It was all about gentrification and disneyfication of the gritty ‘real’ urban landscape. I guess those people got their way in the end…

I arrived in NYC 72 hours ago for a five-week work project in Manhattan — and this city is a MESS. The drug use. The mental illness. The trash and grime. The aggression and crime. The abandoned buildings. The homelessness and hustlers. It’s painfully obvious and pathetic — and it’s a different city than the one I last visited just before the pandemic hit. Spoke last night for quite awhile with a police officer who told me tourists stop him at least a dozen times a day to say something like, “I thought people were exaggerating!” or to ask “What has happened to New York?!” Everyone is talking about the problems — including the people who live here. They know there is no sugarcoating any of this.

@KeithNHumphreys I guess Clark’s comedy act sort of undermined his blistering guitar playing. Though if you see those old shows, the audience certainly appreciated his musicianship.
English

@KeithNHumphreys I second that. Just check out Glen Campbell playing ‘Gentle on my mind’ with Roy Clark nodding along approvingly:
