Regarding The Legend of Aang going straight to streaming: I'm devastated. As both a massive fan and an artist on the movie, it's heartbreaking. Everything I've seen from this film has been absolutely gorgeous, it really was made to be seen on the big screen.

i think the success of tv shows like the pitt, succession & severance, and more recently heated rivalry & pluribus, show that the kids yearn for weekly episode drops. hype builds up organically rather than the world binging an entire season and forgetting it all by next week!

I will expand on my point: 1) You are using AI in your daily life. Search engines are AI-powered, your phone camera is AI-powered (sorry, you haven't become better at taking photos-smudges, blinks-all fixed by AI), Alexa? Siri? Google Assistant? Guess what, they are powered by AI. Netflix, YouTube, Twitch-all use AI to highlight content you're interested in. Google Maps and most navigation apps are now powered by AI to calculate your route. Spam filters, health and fitness trackers, even your online planner-all powered by AI. You use AI every day to make your life easier and find information faster, you're just too proud to admit it. 2) Witch hunts like with Larian Studios will cause only one thing: they will never tell you they're using AI. You think silly outrage will stop anyone from making their work easier? "Bitch please." I've been here when Photoshop was considered a "real art killer" frowned upon by traditional artists and discarded as "not real art." The majority of art is now made using computer tools. I remember when tens of thousands of Kodak shops closed down when traditional photography was replaced by digital cameras, millions of people lost their jobs, including me. I don't remember outrage back then. Let's face it, AI is here whether you like it or not; it will not go away because it makes life easier. We can be civil about it, accept that studios are using AI, and appreciate that they are willing to be honest with us, or we can fuel witch hunts that will cause studios to be completely silent about any use of AI in their work. This is no longer Kansas, Dorothy.

SENTIMENTAL VALUE (2025)

Look, I hate generative AI and I think my timeline proves that, but people immediately going scorched earth and writing off an entire company based on one or two tweets isn’t terribly helpful to the discourse imo. And while they said or did something you don’t agree with, they’re still human at the end of the day. And I think some people are SO quick to cast judgment and write someone or something off at the first whiff of a thing they don’t agree with. It feels like hunting for wins or justice online because we’re so powerless to so many awful things happening in the world right now. So I get it. And I’ve been guilty of it, no fucking doubt. But I’m realizing how destructive that will be long term for society. Well I think, anyway. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk on my preachy soapbox. I never expect anyone to read these essays really. Just helpful for me to get my thoughts out of my head and put somewhere, if that makes sense. Back to doing some nerd shit today. I have to applaud some in the media on this one, they absolutely nailed the hysteria when reporting Larian and Sandfall use AI. The end result of this will be companies communicating less and being less transparent, just to avoid projection and emotional outbursts. Great work.

Larian admits to AI usage. E33 used AI. KCD2 allegedly used AI. Activision is using AI. Xbox is using AI. GTA 6 definitely is using AI. Indie studios with small teams probably use AI in some capacity. The chances your fav studio uses AI is extremely high, even if they don’t say it Hell, the chances that VALVE is using AI to help with Deadlock and Half-Life 3 development is probably true I’m genuinely curious what everyone’s move is going to be moving forward. Are you going to boycott all future games? Stop playing these current games that used it? Quit gaming all together? I hate genAI as much as the next guy. I’m curious what the future actually will be for gaming as a hobby though
