Scorpion and Bi-Han/Noob Saibot never had too many stories that involve them in the main plot in the original games to begin with even when Bi-Han was Sub-Zero. They may be icons of the franchise but they were always background characters in service of the main plot story wise.
But honestly Bi-Han being recruited to keep handy of Shinnok’s amulet and the heroes needing Scorpion’s help to hunt him down in hell is all that really needed to be had and it worked. I thought it was fine.

mk2 spoilers . . . hanzo and bi han felt a bit shoehorned into the film and should've had a better narrative reason to be included. i mean, they're the mascots of mortal kombat, so ofc they need to be in the film. but, their narratives in mk2 were pretty underdeveloped
