Designed by Wallmakers in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Petti Restaurant uses discarded shipping containers as its primary structure, stacking them vertically to gain height on a narrow site. The steel is paired with poured earth insulation and oxide flooring, helping reduce heat gain and improve thermal comfort with less dependence on mechanical cooling. What makes it striking is that the facade doesn’t hide the system — it turns it into rhythm. Repeated brick-like openings, deep shadows, and tower-like volumes give the restaurant a sculptural presence while also supporting light, ventilation, and a more climate-responsive design. 📍 Thoothukudi, India
