When I worked at Macy's back in the 80's, people who worked there raised families on what they made. It was their career. I remember the guy in electronics retired after 30 years, and my boss in the cash office did the same. The guys who worked in the suit department did very well for themselves. Despite that, the store profited greatly every year, and we were given a beautiful Christmas party in appreciation. What changed in this country? When did it become nearly impossible to support oneself at a job that didn't require a degree or technical school?

@robsmithonline Hundreds of servicemembers die EVERY YEAR in training. My cousin broke his back in training, he would not have broken it if the equipment was not decrepit. He gets money from the VA because he BROKE HIS BACK in training. Only 1% of Americans join the military. You could have to!

One of the biggest losers I have ever met was a Veteran who receives $3k/month to do nothing in Florida because he fell down a hill with a ruck sack on during a training exercise. Never deployed. A real scumbag. Military benefit grifting absolutely exists.

Fascinating how ‘basque cheesecake’ has become this whole thing in fancy American restaurants. There isn’t basque anything else isn’t the US, and most Americans couldn’t even begin to find the Baque region on a map, but there it is on the menu: BASQUE cheesecake.
