Seen a lot of whispers about Ryan Lowe to #NTFC Can't say I'd be excited, seems to be on his way down. Look at his record with Schumacher as his assistant against his record without. Not particularly inspiring!

@PpgProphet @TheShoeArmy1897 Have to say, as an #ntfc fan, this looks very likely now. If this is the final total, which actually looks ambitious if anything it will mean 12 point from a possible 78 since Christmas Day. Something happened around that time & I don’t think fans will ever find out what.

@James_ChronNTFC I really hope it’s a 4. Would rather see Willis at right back than Perkins at right wing back. I also think Perkins deserves a chance in midfield alongside a holding midfielder

We're trying to work out the formation. Could be Willis RB in a 4 but my guess would be 3-5-2 with Perkins/McAdam wing-back and a midfield three of Taylor-McGeehan-Jacobs. But we'll see soon enough #ntfc

@TalkOfTheTeyn @ntfc RUFC probably have owners that actually care about the football & the level they play at, whereas ours have made it blatantly clear over the last few months they don’t. I actually think our owners would prefer for us to be in a “lower cost” division. The silence is deafening!

@ntfc This is called having a plan in place. Sacking the manager in the morning and having someone ready to take over on the same day. Not dragging it out having a meeting once a week when there's 8 games of the season left whilst being 8 points adrift. #ntfc
Rotherham United@RotherhamUnited

We are delighted to welcome the vastly-experienced Lee Clark to the club as our first team manager. ✍️ He pens a short-term deal which runs until the end of the 2025/26 campaign. A press conference will be held with Lee on Thursday. 🗣️ #RUFC | #TownCountyUnited

@TalkOfTheTeyn @ntfc If the plan is to appoint someone who hasn't managed for 6 years and was last seen getting relegated from National League North, I'd rather not have a plan tbh.

@James_ChronNTFC Agree on Perkins, definitely the stand out. Not always seen what the fuss has been about with him but tried to be fair as he's been played out of position. Deserves a start with either DC or TT. Potentially a better balance in midfield, makes you wonder why its not been tried

@James_ChronNTFC Given this surely it makes sense to have a new manager appointed by next Monday at the absolute latest. That will give the new man nearly 2 full weeks of training without a game to work with the players

@Gerog__ @TheShoeArmy1897 Squad was good enough first half of the season. They’ve been coached to be worse. Feels like they’ve been completely broken by the constant negative approach from KN & CC

@TheShoeArmy1897 Not sure why anyone expects anything different. Been pretty clear for a while that the investment with the club is the problem. Changing managers isn’t gonna change the fact the squad is a mid table league 2 squad at best

Nolan might be gone but that was pretty much exactly what we’ve seen for the last few weeks if not longer. Lot of huff and puff without scoring and conceding an unlucky/scrappy goal to give the other side something to defend. Not sure anyone could have expected revolution today and they’ve definitely not got it

@djh00 @TheRealCase They seemed L1 standard 1st half of season. Lacking in some areas, sure, but had enough to stay up with even a mediocre Jan window. They’ve been “coached” to be less than the sum of their parts KN & CC negative, safety first approach has worn them down & stripped their belief

@James_ChronNTFC For me I just want some entertainment. RP, JFH, JE, KC, KN all "don't lose" managers/style. Our natural place is prob top 8 L2 - bottom 8 L1. I accept we'll probably yo-yo a bit. So let's be entertaining, build an identity & somewhere young, exciting players can develop and grow.

Cobblers fans - I'd like your view for a piece I'm putting together. Who do you want as the next manager? And why? And is it worth waiting until the summer to get the right man (even if that means relegation)? #ntfc
James@James_ChronNTFC

The potential candidates to replace Kevin Nolan as Cobblers boss. Options for both now and the summer (admittedly not all will be realistic/attainable). Who do you fancy from this list? Anyone not here that you'd like? #ntfc northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football…

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC Indeed. I’m not even convinced we’ll see a new manager, the last two times they sacked a manager late in the season it was Austin & Brady respectively to end of season. We’ll see. As always it’s the hope that kills ya!

@stuart_stammers @James_ChronNTFC Yeah that's a fair summary. It's good to have the conversation. I'm not convinced a new manager will change much but there is a certain level of fatigue.

@stuart_stammers @James_ChronNTFC Peaks lives in Kettering I think and would jump at the chance. Garrard is surely going to move somewhere sooner or later, especially if Boring Wood don't win playoffs.

Personally would quite like to see a Peaks/Garrard type given a chance. We've seen how Cowan has gone in at Shrewsbury and made an immediate difference. There are some interesting managers/coaches doing very good work lower down the pyramid #ntfc

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC Yeah get your point! Could argue it both ways, for me each manager should be judged against budget so it's a given. But I also appreciate it's a hot topic for us as a club

@stuart_stammers @James_ChronNTFC No agreed not all budget, my point was that budget could have been one of James' bullet points. We need to have more discussion of the wider stuff as a club generally.

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC You're spot on that there's a conversation to be had re: the medium/long term and why we can't establish as a L1 club. But I still think we should be able to look at a managers performance in short term and look at reasons for failure - it's not all budget, naive to say otherwise

@stuart_stammers @James_ChronNTFC It's Groundhog Day and to easy to cling on to minutiae rather than looking at the bigger picture. For Nolan see Curle etc etc. Cobblers need to grow and grow significantly, new investment and new expertise. Without that we'll be having these conversations pretty regularly.

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC Also - I think the minutiae of systems is even more valid with restricted budget. Apart from the no. of centre backs in squad we never recruited for a back 3 / wing backs. The more limited your budget the more laser focus you have to be on getting players to fit system & style

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC I think the majority accept the budget constraints, I even think there's a scenario where we go down and he stays. Bottom half of bottom half / below red line does not = 1 win in 16, 10 goals from open play in 36 etc. The stats are too damning regardless of budget

@tomreedwriting @James_ChronNTFC I don't know, the budget situation is well known and hasn't changed. He was happy to take the job on that basis. The rug hasn't been pulled in budget terms. Recruitment was muddled in my opinion. He didn't build a squad for his style or formation.

@James_ChronNTFC Unfair not to mention the budget? Nolan said on the Undr the Cosh pod that "budget's going to stay more or less the same and that means we're going to be in that bottom half, well the bottom half of the bottom of the table." Also have to be "clever in the market". Not easy.

@James_ChronNTFC Going forward, I just want a bit of entertainment tbh. I appreciate I’m probably in minority but feel we’re probably always going to bounce between L1 & L2 so might as well enjoy it. Only time we should be going “murderball” is if in risk of dropping from L2.

@James_ChronNTFC 1) Right decision, too late, Rotherham away was it for me but Orient / Vale indefensible. 2) Recruitment seemed muddled. Apart from no. of CBs squad never suited system Lack of players suited to wing back as well always meant front 3 too isolated from team & each other

Right Cobblers fans, let's have your thoughts. 1) Reaction to KN sacking - anyone think it's the wrong decision? 2) Where do you think it went wrong? 3) What you'd like to see happen now? #ntfc
