@LundukeJournal Well, then. Distro hopping is one of the more popular lessons in my MIDDLE SCHOOL club. It looks like there's another distro to remove from the list! This is getting weird. #Linux#opensource
The openSUSE Linux project has updated their "Terms of Site" to prohibit anyone under the age of 16 from browsing any website hosted by openSUSE (including documentation and software repositories).
"By using this site, you represent that you are at least 16 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction."
This rule would prohibit High School computer clubs, and any other minors from researching or using openSUSE Linux.
📷 IF I EVER TAUGHT YOU or YOUR CHILD...
For Teacher Appreciation Week, I would love for my former students and/or parents to REPLY to this post & tell me how your child is doing & what your child is doing! Or feel free to share a story or memory from our time together!
@Its_Nova1012 This week's Penguin Corps lesson was Distro Hopping. Kids try out different versions of Linux to compare and contrast them. Lesson plan available.
This comment on the Islamic attack on Ubuntu is worth thinking about...
"It’s so insane to me that a Jew and a group of Islamic terrorists who formed to support a civilian terror attack that aimed to simply kill Jews, are able to communicate more effectively and respectfully than basically any of the leaders of open source distros can with that same Jew.
Absolutely crazy. Imagine being more hostile to Lunduke than a group of Muslims who kill Jews. I would be embarrassed."
@carlrichell@github@gitlab@Docker@Podman_io Through these clubs, 100s of kids learned to install, configure, and use Linux. Then, they took that knowledge and applied it to community service by refurbishing used computers for needy individuals and families. 100s of computers given away or loaned for distance learning.
I received the amended Colorado Age Attestation bill.
* Open source OS's and apps are excluded
* Code repos are excluded (@github / @gitlab)
* Containers are excluded (@Docker / @Podman_io)
I testify Thursday and can use your help! I need your stories about incredible things kids have made thanks to access to open source software. Share here or DM me.
