@craig_amai Also sometimes all it takes is to ask a guest to your meeting or a new higher what they think. It's uncomfortable to be put on the spot, and sometimes they may not have input at that moment, but giving them a moment feels good and emphasizes it's a team effort.

@craig_amai That said, I've noticed a lot of improvement over the years with people seeing the body language of someone wanting to say something but not feeling comfortable interrupting the conversation. Breaking up to ask their input makes them feel included.

A thing that stunned me as a new designer was how competitive the conversation in meetings could get. Loud and quick voices talk more. Quiet and thoughtful voices get lost. It’s a dynamic I remember well from groups of guys in high-school and college. I hated it.

If Ani is short for Anakin, what is Luke short for? A Stormtrooper.

Haven't tweeted in a while. March 13th marks my 15 year anniversary at Blizzard Entertainment. Many fun years and memories and great people I've met along the way. GG #BlizzLife

God of War enemies must keep the player ENGAGED over 20+ hours. The first enemy, Draugr, serves an important ROLE (punching bag). Subsequent enemies need to VARY their roles and STRESS TEST the player’s toolkit. Let’s look at some “mid-game” enemies. #gamedesign #combatdesign 🧵

Melee combat design is the art of creating rules that determine when/how a player or enemy are allowed to hit each other. The inclusion of key rules determines the player’s technical burden. Let’s compare God of War/ Sekiro who have similar mechanics. #gamedesign #combatdesign 🧵

@Celestalon @candacerthomas @cydereal Sometimes game design even involves taking out ideas that are individually *good*, but just don't fit with the greater goal you're trying to achieve. Then you put those ideas in your pocket for later, because eventually you'll find the right home for them.

Protip: When participating a brainstorm session, remember that people aren't submitting their ideas for your approval They're throwing out ideas to jam on. Utilize this by finding the good bits of the idea, talk about what you like - and add to it. Work out the logistics later

This is going to be an exciting week: worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/233… This was originally planned to be a video. And to come just a bit sooner. But from our (literal) homes to yours, the WoW team couldn't be more excited to pull back the curtain on what we've been up to since BlizzCon.

A short thread on a few Celeste game-feel things :) I don't think we invented any of these. 1- Coyote time. You can still jump for a short time after leaving a ledge.
