In a game best viewed from behind a tree, Oli McBurnie scores (assisted by Sol Brynn) to take Hull City back to the English top flight. No need for lawyers. No need either for McBurnie to pack for the World Cup with Scotland. He scores goals, runs all day. Who wants that? #HULMID

Their favourite football team was formed by a staunch member of the Orange order (John Houlding) Hope the Irish lads are whistling along during this parade outside the ground, knowing their club hates them 😅 Should have been Everton fans 👍🏻

How many years since @officialdafc have been in a cup final ? And what do their supporters do? They turn up dressed as members of the Klu Klux Klan. Disgusting. #ScottishCupFinal

@MadMentalTim @MrsFleckles119 I know what I saw on TV. It wasn’t unbridled joy. (Like last week) It was just tick ✅ job done. You’ve over 10x the revenue we have. We’ve half that of Aberdeen & the Embra two. The odds of success for 🧡🖤 are slim yet I go. I’ll judge you on your European performances.

Well played Dunfermline getting there against all odds, but look at the Celtic players reaction - joyless. Their fans - polite applause. It’s not for me what football’s about! 🤷🏼‍♂️

Josh Cooper goal Dunfermline a clear trip on Kieran Tierney by Matty Todd. Tierney was ahead of Todd, Todd then tripped Tierney to get ahead, got the cutback for the shot which was blocked, then Cooper scored from rebound. A clear trip but VAR said 'a coming together'

I hope we get pumped in every single game and never make a World Cup again. Anything to avoid this, ANYTHING.

Spain favourites. Excellent all round squad, winning Euros a big step towards a World Cup. Argentina. Will have huge support in the US, lots of winners in the team. France. On ability alone an exceptionally talented group. But it's France, who can always manage to somehow, some way self sabotage due to volatility as a national sporting trait. Dark horse, Portugal, strong squad, almost nobody talking about them which will suit them. Left field shout. Morocco. Excellent squad, Moroccan football at all levels having a renaissance.

I am finding this World Cup very hard to call. Anyone out there have a gut feeling around the winner?

Days like these don’t come around very often for fans of the “wee” clubs, and yes I appreciate Dunfermline have huge potential and amazing history, but you know what I mean. Savour every single moment today Pars fans, and always believe. You never know 🏆

@The_Thirty_ The last time Dunfermline were Scottish Cup holders England were also World Cup holders. Do we really want to take that chance?

@_DIGB There’s a thing I call ‘magic dust’ in International football. Some countries have it, some don’t. In fact only a few have it - like Brazil for example. And Italy. Argentina. And us. I don’t know how we have it, but we do. We see something of ourselves in our team and we love it.

The Lyndon Dykes Question: Does Dykes still deserve a World Cup place? Disclaimer: I love Lyndon Dykes. It's easy to forget what he has done for Scotland: Leading the line like a warrior in Belgrade to help us qualify for Euro 2020, the winners in the Faroes and Norway, fighting for the shirt every time he takes to the pitch. However, his lack of form ahead of the World Cup is stark. Dykes scored five league goals in 41 Championship appearances for Birmingham and Charlton in the season just completed. These numbers stand in contrast to a number of other Scottish strikers of a similar physical profile: (2025/26 league goals): • Oli McBurnie: 17 • Kieron Bowie: 12 • George Hirst: 11 • Ross Stewart: 8 Dykes also has just one goal in his last 21 Scotland caps. His game isn't all about goals, Dykes has proven his ability to lead the line effectively for Scotland over the years. He is brilliant in the air and can be adept at bringing our midfield talent into play. However, these are attributes which the likes of McBurnie, Bowie, Hirst and Stewart also possess. I think team spirit was a major factor in Scotland's ability to qualify for this World Cup, with Dykes at the centre of this, but at what point can loyalty hold us back from maximising our chances of success? I fully expect Dykes to be selected and I will back him to the hilt in the States, but if the squad selection were a meritocracy, he wouldn't be included. For me, Lawrence Shankland in particular is a lock for the squad, and I also believe Ché Adams' mobility and all-round game makes him stand out. This leaves two striking spots left: Who from this shortlist of five would you go for? Let me know your thoughts. 👇🏻
