Too many. The disgraces that are @FIFPRO and @PFA should be ensuring no player plays more than a more than ample 50 games a season. If supporters want freshness and high quality "product", if genuine concerns and data about redlining/physical/mental health are taken seriously, then both of those unfit for purpose organisations should be intervening. They won't though, too many privileges from national, regional and international bodies. 50 games max, split over as many tournaments as the player wants. Squads and youngsters then get used properly, players can give their best and stay fresh, supporters get bang for buck, 69 matches is obscene. And he'll be back smiling at Colney in a fortnight ( fair play to him but it's daft how stupid all players are when putting their physical and emotional health first) when his body can't possibly be rested.
