@phlaimeaux Dual citizen here. Hills Hoist is Australian . . . Pavlova and Flat White are disputed. Evidence points to NZ for Pavlova and Australia for Flat White. It's ok to be wrong sometimes but this is an opportunity for growth.

@HonTonyAbbott It should be for the protesters to decide. That's kind of the point of protest. That's what makes it a protest.

It should not be for judges to decide when a political protest is justified. The decision to close the Sydney Harbour Bridge to facilitate this protest is a political decision and should be made by elected and accountable ministers - who as it happens, think the march should not go ahead. We are on a slippery slope when unelected judges start making political judgments.

@wtb_Michael It's the worst. Every other loss can be weathered with comfort eating but there is no comfort when the eating is lost.

@wtb_Michael I saw my first in Daintree. Gorgeous little things...like a fluffy colourful angry little golf ball.

The ridiculously small little kingfisher is maybe my new favourite Aus kingfisher - they weigh about 12g and fish for tiny shrimp from low perches in the mangroves (these all Buffalo Creek, in Darwin)

I want to see the other bands pulling out of these concerts who have banned #Kneecap from playing. Why would anyone want to pay to go and see weak-willed bands? Stand in solidarity with fellow musicians, let's see your spines, show us your mettle.

@roryisconfused I live in Brisbane, Qld, Aus and it's very windy at the end of July which is also when Kate Bush (the wuther mother) celebrates her birthday so we dress in red and dance in a windy field to "wuthering heights" in perfect wuther weather. We wuther like no others.

@roryisconfused I had a copy of Heart of Darkness in which a previous owner had underlined every instance where Conrad was a dismissive of women and written helpful commentary like "disrespectful!" in the margins.

Bought this second-hand copy of ‘Bonjour Tristesse’ because someone had helpfully translated the word ‘Bonjour’ on the cover in pencil but not the word ‘Tristesse’

@KNEECAPCEOL Intent is no mistake. Getting caught is the only mistake they made, and even getting caught isn't the kind of mistake that will cost them anything. The colonial powers will continue to arm them because they're doing exactly what they were put there to do.

Israel made a mistake when they murdered 15 medics. Then they made a mistake burying them so they couldn’t be found. Then they made a mistake burying their ambulances so they couldn’t be found. Then they made a mistake telling the world they traveled suspiciously with their lights off. Until the mobile phone footage was found on one of their bodies….. There were no mistakes. This is the most obvious war crime you’ll ever see. FUCK ISRAEL - DEPRAVED CUNTS

Took this photo where the shadows of the trees make the green reeds underwater visible, making it look like the reflections of those trees have leaves that the trees don’t, nice accidental surrealism

@wtb_Michael @bbboatclub I waited and watced the sunset at the pier, with dozens of tourists pressed up against the bars of the fence. This little guy showed up right before a sudden shower of rain just when I had to leave for the Palais. Atrocious photo but a perfectly plump pre podcast penguin!

@sub_bourbon @bbboatclub oohhh! i haven't been down to the penguins since they completely redid the foreshore! It's all only just reopened - I would get down to the pier an hour or so before sunset and be prepared to stick around until it's properly dark. Should be well signed!

@wtb_Michael I'm gonna be in Melbourne overnight for the @bbboatclub podcast Thursday. Any unmissable overnight Melbourne city bird opportunities? I'm going to try for the St Kilda penguins. Do you have tips for a successful sighting?

@roryisconfused It's a hangover from the schoolyard. Nothing was more important than social cred and nothing killed cred like cringe. Cradle your cringe. It's irrepressibly authentic and it's what makes you compelling as an adult.

When I think of why I’ve ever come to dislike anybody, it’s not because they’ve done something *cringe*, or the sorts of things I look back on that I did and cringe about, but rather because they did cruel and obnoxious things. So why do I worry about “cringe”? And I do!

@urthboy brains consume a lot of energy & we always look for ways to outsource or bypass thinking so this is unsurprising but we're also working more so we're probably at capacity. also steep decline in our sleep hygiene contributes and is exacerbated by our reliance on machines.

@Jeans_1039 @hannahchrstina do you think the japanese meals we enjoy are only for the wealthy? i fully understand the history of pie crust. . . and most were designed to keep the contents warm when the servants took them up to the dining hall, so they weren't necessarily working class food.

@Jeans_1039 @sub_bourbon @hannahchrstina Yeah, these people wouldn't start on gumbo or curry for having "poor presentation" but sure the miners of Cornwall should've considered making the pasty more eye pleasing for Americans
