I've been sober for 636 days, and here's what I've learnt:
1. Addiction is a way of living.
2. Drinking was only a symptom.
3. Sobriety alone doesn't heal you.
4. Healing means changing your whole lifestyle.
5. Moderation isn't for me.
Still learning as I go. What did you learn?
@successalphaz 6) the summer months are really hard
7) 0.0% alcohol free beers really help but cost far too much
8) need to find other hobbies
9) you realise who your true friends are
10) live your life on your own terms big wide world out there do
What makes you happy
@Sofa_King420 Im 21 months sober and I know that right after first beer that high will be the same when it was 2 years or 5 years ago.
And + I have no purpose for drinking 1 beer.
They say, for taste. Yeah shit is tasty, why not smash 4 at least?? Right??
100 percent agree to that. You need to change ur life completely around.
And I remember before my last weed relapse, I was clean from it for 5 months, and right after first few puffs, the high hit me like it was yesterday. Same feelings same state. It was no different because I was clean, it was all the addict type of high
I tell my patients that it only takes one time of seeing your old plug at Walmart 6 months after becoming sober to end up in his car, using once again.
You're not going to go to a party where 10 people are using, and you're the only one not. You wouldn't go to a bar if you don't plan on drinking, etc. By going to these places you will end up using again.
You need to change your friend group - you need to change the route you drive to work/home - you need to change your location (if possible). Substance use loves patterns.
To be honest I am not sure what's the feeling of being sober all the time, because I consume not a small amount of caffeine and been fighting sex and adult content abuse, so I do get off my edge in diff ways, but if to answer what's it like to not be drunk ever? U stay who u are all the time. No change of state, no hangovers and on weekend u can get "high" on 3 redbulls, come home at 2-3am get decent sleep and 10am on Sunday u riding a bike in the morning.
@successalphaz As a person who does not drink a lot, what is it like to be sober, all the time? Little boring? I am spiritual, into self-development, but once in a while, I just feel like I love the feeling of booze. I drink like 10 times a year, feel like life would be a little borin’ without!
Your environment decides your income more than
motivation does.
If everyone around you:
1. Complain
2. Wastes weekends
3. Scrolls all day
4. Avoids risk
5. Hates selling
Your brain slowly adapts to that level.
Most people never notice this happening.
Most people don’t have an income problem.
They have:
-an impulse problem
-a focus problem
-a consistency problem
A distracted person will stay broke even with
opportunities around them.
Unless you enjoy that, it's not for you.
You can spend every weekend with your date, driving
around, sharing what RnB songs you both like, watching
movies, eating popcorn, and being healthy, rested, and
alive.
But all of this sounds selfish, no? What if you start creating something.
Here’s what actually helped me spend less money:
1. Stop buying to change your mood. A purchase won’t fix your life for longer than 15 minutes.
2. Delete food delivery apps. You’ll be shocked how much money disappears there.
3. Track every expense for 7 days. Not to budget. Just to wake yourself up.
4. Don’t scroll when bored. Scrolling creates artificial desires.
5. Learn to sit in discomfort without consuming something.
Modern life is designed to drain your attention and your
wallet at the same time
Imagine sobriety as a game... Added levels to sobriety tracker, the point is to make it really simple and useful with valuable insights on your sobriety journey. IF you relapse you lose your rank!
