What’s disappointing to me is that Tim Heidecker has played a character parodying personalities like Alex Jones before. His same-name persona for On Cinema at the Cinema is a great bit. I didn’t see any of the Onion’s InfoWars stuff past part of the first bit, but it was clear that making him a 1:1 defamatory caricature of Alex killed any comedic value the bit might’ve had.

Playing through Opus Magnum for the first time and really enjoying the symmetry and space optimization of my Invisible Ink solution. There’s better optimizations for every category but I feel like I hit a strong middle ground across all three.

My only concern with 2 is the ambiguity of what constitutes an edit. Not because it's wrong conceptually but a very generic example might be a Simpsons clip versus a YTP-style edit built out of that same clip. The edit itself is original content through parody.

Some updates on the creator rev share program: 1. Soliciting engagements (“I’ll follow everyone who replies”) 3 or more times will results in removal from the program and your account will be forwarded to the policy team for suspension. Grok now catches all of these. Nearly 4000 accounts were removed from the program today. 2. Our new model now detects duplicated content at 3x the rate of the previous model. Adding watermarks, intros and other edits will send monetized impressions to the original uploader. This also includes copying viral text posts (most common one: “Twitter is like the smoking section of the internet”). We detected 1.5 million posts that were stolen this cycle. Repeated or intentional circumvention will lead to removal from the program. With these changes, over $1 million will be given back to original content creators.

A 1:1 clone wouldn’t meaningfully divert users from the platform on its own when anyone could do it. I think the more interesting play is to create an identical front end and then using the X API to pull a targeted subset of posts and serving them in a derivative, domain-specific pool. For example, an X for engineering. If users are performing log in auth using an X account,, then you can even push posts made on that sub-platform to main X. Likewise, domain-relevant posts made on X would make it to the sub-platform.

Imagining a scenario where @X pivots to being a more open-ended communication protocol providing industry scale hosting for its queryable post/user database (infrastructure already exists of a kind through the xAPI). Platform where people actively query and curate using their own frontends running parallel to the baseline X app.
