Róisín Murphy was cancelled in 2023 after sharing her views about the effects of puberty blockers on children on her personal Facebook page. Last week, @roisinmurphy spoke in Parliament about her experience of cancellation and the negative impact it is having on the arts. She said: “The creative soul of this country ... has always thrived on discomfort, on the freedom to be wrong, to offend, to pivot and to surprise ourselves. “Without that freedom, we don’t get better art, we simply put artists into a chokehold and suffocate the life out of our culture. We need free, equal and open debate. The arts must breathe freely again.” Murphy argued that public funding of the arts supports those who agree with prevailing orthodoxies rather than dissenting voices. This, she said, has led to self-censorship among artists and damaged British culture. Read more below @Freedom_in_Arts 👇

@legaltweetz @Steve6066 That's not how it works. Being gay doesn't give you a get out of jail free card for being a homophobic tw*t.

Medical transition is irreversible & permanent. Everyone needs to hear AND see how this devastates the body. My breasts are gone & I have permanent & thick facial hair that I’ll have to get laser for. People need to think before they make this decision. It took me 7 years to regret it. This cannot be the answer or example for young girls.

Steph Richards: (She/her) - Say NO to hate.
The latest headlines propagated by the gender-critical ideology movement regarding the Finnish youth gender study is yet another example of their misinformation campaign. While the named hate group SEGM and their stoges say that gender-affirming care (GAC) doesn’t work, a closer look reveals that the research being headlined is far from the “gold standard” The study claims that “psychiatric needs do not subside” after medical transition, but its definition of a mental health “crisis” is incredibly weak. The researchers defined “severe psychiatric morbidity” as a single visit to a specialist psychiatrist. Who hasn't sought support for mental health? As experts have noted, one or two visits could simply be a routine follow-up, a response to a transient life stressor, or even a referral for further gender-related support—not a sign of treatment failure. By using such a crude metric, the study conflates routine care and severe illness into a single category. Furthermore, the study completely ignores the real-world context of being trans. It fails to account for social stigma or whether a person has achieved visual congruence (passability), both of which are massive drivers of mental well-being and a core argument for the use of puberty blockers. Transitioning isn’t just about hormones and possibly surgery; it’s about being able to live safely in a society that often targets you. By ignoring these factors, the authors essentially blamed the medicine for the effects of the prejudice. Perhaps most concerning is that the data was “not fit for purpose”. It appears the researchers reused a dataset originally designed to study mortality rates rather than mental health trajectories. This “recycled” approach meant they lacked the granular detail needed to see how GAC actually improves lives over time. Gender-affirming care is life-saving. We need research that reflects our lived experiences, not biased interpretations of recycled data. We mustn't allow flawed science to stand in the way of human rights.

True story I used to be an electrician. I’m from working class blue collar America. I’m rough around the edges. I’m from the wrong side of the tracks. I’m from Detroit & I’m very Midwestern. I’ve been through more shit in life than I’d like to recount. I’m a survivor of many things. I think that’s why the current brand of conservatism appeals to me. I’ll always have a working class mentality no matter what I do. It’s ingrained in me. The left abandoned blue collar working class people and took their votes for granted as some permanent voting block. Trump came around and turned that on its head with a brand of populism that appeals to the working class voter. The left also doesn’t know how to speak to the working class voter. No one has time for elitist weird ideas and struggle sessions over which identity has it harder. Those folks just want to afford to feed their kids. They don’t give a flying fuck about the oppression Olympics or queer theory. Nobody has time for you to list your 18 different identity labels. The left has completely lost touch with reality. It’s actually sad to see as someone who was a democrat for so long. The party is in shambles and their ideas are like a clown car of absurdity.

#TransDayOfVisibility is about celebrating the courage and strength of the trans and non-binary communities in the face of discrimination and violence. Trans rights are human rights, and your life shouldn't be subjected to politics. I see you, and I will always stand with you.

This is the tweet that changed my life overnight. The detrans tweet. 9 million views & 2.7k comments. I woke up early for work that morning & tweeted this to hold myself accountable to walking away from trans. I had no idea that it would go absolutely batshit bananas. I will never forget that day and the weeks after. The fallout from leaving trans was nuclear for me. The trans community came for my head (and are still trying for it). They did everything they could to try and destroy me. I got kicked off of LGBT boards I was on. I got hundreds of emails to my work looking for me to be fired (I own my own law firm & I didn’t fire me). Many have tried to grieve me because they want to see me disbarred. I lost 30 years of activist work, friends en masse, and everything I had known. I was hazed very badly. This led to an entire summer of being in bed when not working. I hit a new level of dark depression. I experienced epic levels of suicidal ideation. I thought it was all over. My whole world had collapsed in on itself and I was being hazed to death. Everything I had thought was true was not. Up was down and down was up. I spent the month of August of 2025 planning my own suicide. I planned it for after the Lady Gaga concert in Toronto in mid September. I was wrapping up affairs privately. I wrote letters to everyone that I loved. And then I went to Toronto and spent all of my money on one last epic concert. I changed my mind at the final hour. I thought about my family. The months that followed my suicidal episode were very difficult. I’m finally getting my bearings now after this tweet rocked my life. Detransition isn’t easy. Those judging me for having a hard time after this announcement have no concept of the sense of profound loss that I experienced. Anyone that doesn’t get that coming out of trans is like leaving a cult shouldn’t be working with us. Anyone that doesn’t get the level of insanity that trans people will throw at you isn’t paying attention. We need to make it easier to leave trans behind. No one should have to face a firing squad or be crucified for truth and reality. I will continue to tell my story despite the intense hatred of me that I inspire.

I’m detransitioning. My name will still be Hendrix. My birth name carries a lot of abuse with it, so Hendrix stays. I will block anyone using my prior name. I was not talked into this or groomed. This is what I want. I made the choice to transition as an adult, and the buck stops here. I won’t be suing anyone, nor am I angry about it. However, after a lifetime of trauma due to being a female & 15+ years of endometriosis, I disconnected from my female body completely. More gatekeeping could have caught this instead of an ALL affirmation model. This is why I find the informed consent model to be flawed after 7+ years of transition.

After 7 years of pretending to be a man, I gained some significant empathy for men. This is why I’m not a radical feminist. It’s too man hating for me & I don’t like misandry. Men are humans too.

I no longer feel solidarity with anyone based off of a shared sense of identity politics. I left that behind when I left the LGBTQIASJSJSG++ community. I left behind a cult of leftist group think. Just because I date women doesn’t mean I’ll like every other woman who also does the same. It’s an illusory sense of solidarity that led to a lot of dark places in my life. I don’t need a rainbow or a flag to hide behind anymore. I’m unapologetically myself. I take each individual on merit & what their principles are. Not who you have sex with or what race you are or any of that arbitrary nonsense.
