#tvone #leadersdebate WTF is going on with that moving background behind the debate...very distracting, quite unattractive...amateurish, even

@ColeyTangerina you calling my wife a racoon? oh, hang on, there's a picture over there on the wall that's not quite straight...

Welcome back for our 20th #factcheckfriday!
Each week we will be testing your online verification skills with a fresh challenge.
These are some of the skills we use when assessing claims for AAP #FactCheck.
We’ll post the answer at 2pm, so you have three hours to crack it!

@MarleyBlonsky Sprinting down the road racing my dog when she running along the firebreak next to me. She has more fun than me and wins, too

@schneierblog Bruce Schneier singlehandedly has stopped all Google autonomous cars dead in their tracks as they avoid any painting of a bike on the road

@web3_maverick @flexibits I get that prices don't stay static.
And I really dislike subscriptions, maybe just for this reason.
But I really hate trying to minimise a 41% increase by quoting a monthly increment when you actually pay annually.
English

@sumwarenz @flexibits Yes, I had the same feeling. Plus, the fact they’ve only recently dumped the sub model on us. They could have honoured the current price for existing members for a few years. They chose not to. I won’t even bother seeing out my sub.
English
Am I just getting old or am I right to get annoyed at duplicitous pricing practices.
Just received notification of a subscription increase from @flexibits, stating the new Annual price but the increase presented as a smaller monthly number.
Subscription cancelled.

@crypticcracking Right…thanks for answering that. So rereading “all possible clues given” I now understand that. Those symbols mean something, but they are not obvious. 🤓
Is there a list of these symbols somewhere on your web site?
English

@sumwarenz There is a negative constraint in that puzzle (see the symbol at the top of the grid). This means there cannot be dominoes which should have a dot and don't. If you put a 9 in r3c3 there should have been a white dot between it and the 8 in r3c2 - so there cannot be a 9 there!
English
Missing something obvious in @crypticcracking Dominic sudoku 1 for iOS. I can see three solutions But don’t see what rules the red solution breaks
Waiting for the 🤦

@LongIslandEVs @sactechnerd @asymco @RouteBetter Correct. and it can be surprising what you see when you stop where you otherwise might have driven past at high speed (not that we have had to stop very often at all)
English

@sactechnerd @asymco Most EV drivers do all their daily charging at home.
Almost no EV drivers have to "wait for a charger" and do their daily charging overnight.
On roadtrips, yes there is some planning involved. This is the exception, not the rule.
@RouteBetter is the go-to solution for trips.
English
@ernestkoe That could be a good idea, can federate that instance with others.
English

@asymco Clearly written by someone who has never had a electric car. This would not be an issue if charging speed was much faster AND electric chargers were everywhere. Not to mention fact that today , Fast charging slows once u get to 50% full. So really 300 miles is 100-150 miles.

I’ve been asking this question for 5 years. “You Want an Electric Car With a 300-Mile Range? When Was the Last Time You Drove 300 miles?” - The New York Times nytimes.com/2022/08/27/opi…

I’m blown away. Feature request for Acorn image editor forms in my head, I email request to @flyingmeat.
23 minutes later I have that exact feature running on my computer.
Always listens. Pragmatic.
There is a lot to be said about working with indie developers!
English
@ccgus @sethwillits @flyingmeat I will add that we are indies too, just coding web stuff, general IT and FileMaker.
We try to be this responsive and it’s great when the planets align…
English

@sethwillits @sumwarenz @flyingmeat Yea, this one was about 10 lines of code and I knew exactly how to do it before hand, and it made complete sense to do. Wish everything was like that.
