The USDA has kept raccoon rabies out of the central United States for over 30 years by air-dropping fish-flavored ravioli from helicopters.
Each one is a small packet coated in fishmeal with an oral rabies vaccine inside. Raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and skunks find them by smell, bite through, and swallow.
Many animals that consume the bait develop immunity, helping build a protective barrier across populations.
The bait is generally considered safe for pets and tested in many non-target species.
The USDA's Wildlife Services has been running this since 1995. Without the bait program, raccoon rabies very likely would have spread much further west.
A federal program you've probably never heard of is protecting your pets and your kids by feeding wild animals ravioli from a helicopter.

Spraying one dandelion with Roundup can kill over 100 bees. The flower doesn't die instantly. Bees will keep visiting it for days, taking the poison back to their nests and hives. Never spray dandelions in spring and summer. They're one of the first major food sources for emerging pollinators. Let them bloom or remove them by hand.

I'm going to say the quiet part out loud. What is this really about?
MAGA Republicans are counting seats because they’re chasing something much bigger.
A two-thirds majority in Congress.
Why, because, that gives them one step closer in power to change the Constitution.
Then, it's 3/4 of the states (38 of 50) to ratify any proposed amendments.
I wonder what the plan is to do that?!?

Leaving out that Jeff Bezos’ mom immediately married a Cuban-American engineer who wound up working at peak-Exxon, and that the two had the capital to give him a quarter million dollar loan after he graduated from Princeton (or better yet, leaving out that Jeff’s mom’s father was ‘the regional director of the US’ Atomic Energy Agency in New Mexico… you know, the thing that managed Los Alamos) is certainly a choice.

Jeff Bezos was born in Alberquerque to a 17 year old high school mom who divorced his alcoholic dad before Jeff was 2. He worked at McDonald's before his grades earned his way into Princeton. He started Amazon in a garage with a 245k investment from his parents. That's reality.
