@sunknudsen @gmbtc_com Because the Knots supporters are irrational and angry, they do not listen to basic reason and choose name calling accusation tossing instead. There is no reasoning with them as they refuse to acknowledge basic technical realities of Bitcoin.

@RAQIANMUSIC @gmbtc_com What is your perspective on the narrative where classified or otherwise illegal bytes could be contiguously written to the blockchain weaponizing dissenters trying to take Bitcoin down?

@sunknudsen @gmbtc_com Unfortunately it IS necessary but was NOT intended to be yelling at YOU ser! i appreciate you. its the main point which should already be obvious and would end the whole bitter feud instantly if honestly acknowledged by Knots supporters

@RAQIANMUSIC @gmbtc_com I am a YouTube who creates deeper than average educational content and I am struggling to find any insightful holistic and sophisticated conversations on the topic. Feels like even legendary people like Adam Back are adding oil to the fire.

@sunknudsen @gmbtc_com Nope theres just a lot of angry HODL culture warriors yelling and calling names leveling baseless accusations and all other manner of temper tantrum like children when someone else is on their swing. + a few long suffering rational Core devs taking the brunt

@RAQIANMUSIC @gmbtc_com Damn… that last capitalized sentence was not necessary to drive your point home. I believe we’re going to sort this one out by being kind to each other and having sophisticated conversations about the issue not by screaming at each other.

@sunknudsen @gmbtc_com Knots is essentially HODL culture trying to attack Bitcoin with futile censorship protocols rather than admit the network doesn't belong to them and that they don't even know what Bitcoin is, because YOU CAN'T CENSOR BITCOIN TX AND THAT IS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT

@RAQIANMUSIC @gmbtc_com Interesting perspective… thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us without simply adding fuel to the fire. Have you stumbled upon other more thoughtful assessments like yours?

@sunknudsen @gmbtc_com So basically HODL culture starved miners while inscriptions & runes paid the hashrate tab, but HODL cuoture still thinks Bitcoin is "theirs". NEWS FLASH! Bitcoin’s security budget is now crowd-funded by JPEGs, memecoins, and coming Defi... not coffee buys on a fucking L2

@stephanlivera If not for that, I wouldn’t care so much about a larger OP_RETURN as the market dynamics would price-out most of it. Adding 100KB at 20sat/vB would cost ~2,000,000 sats right? Maybe OK for collectibles or tokenized assets but not for most other use cases.

@stephanlivera My understanding is that currently, arbitrary data is not contiguous and, therefore, not easily readable by nodes or programmatic cp or malware detection. A larger OP_RETURN would allow any arbitrary data to be written in one contiguous block. This is what scares me.

In the Knots Vs Core debate, people are missing a few ground truths: 1. 400KB JPEGs via the taproot inscription envelope is already standard, and already being relayed by a majority of nodes. 2. Due to librerelay, 100KB OP RETURN is already possible to relay. People are incorrectly acting like somehow Core v30 is uniquely enabling these things.

@RAQIANMUSIC @gmbtc_com How is allowing arbitrary data to be stored on the Bitcoin blockchain censorship? Isn’t Bitcoin an alternative to the current (broken) monetary system? Isn’t Bitcoin designed to be as hard as possible? One cannot print Bitcoin but one can print JPEGs.

@gmbtc_com some people hate jpegs more than they understand bitcoin. first they say bitcoin is unstoppable, then argue data will kill it via centralization. knots is a futile attempt to censor data which actually does increase network centralization. v30 removes the option to censor.

@adam3us @elpapo This presents a significant and unnecessary attack vector against the Bitcoin network. @adam3us Why risk it? 🧵 3/3

@nvk More people should run nodes… I am hoping this project lowers the barrier to entry as it runs on hardware that many already have except for 2TB external disk.

@nvk I really appreciate how Docker Compose can be used to bootstrap isolated services… for example, Core or Knots can only access the Internet via Mullvad SOCKS5 proxy or a Tor service. Using Colima, one can also enforce these networking rules using nftables at the VM level.
